Formula 1: Japanese Grand Prix Preview

The stage is set in Suzuka as Red Bull look to right the wrongs of last weekend and place themselves atop the podium once more. But it won’t be quite as easy as it has been for Max Verstappen the majority of this season. The likes of Ferrari and Mercedes will be growing in confidence after finally knocking Red Bull off their perch, and they will be looking to keep the pressure on Verstappen.

It was Ferrari that had the last laugh in Marina Bay Sands, but Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton were hot on Sainz’s tail, with just 1.27 seconds separating the top three. It was the adrenaline rush Formula 1 fans have been waiting for all season long. Could there be more where that came from?

Once again there will be a few eyeing up top spot on race week. The Japanese Grand Prix has been dominated by Mercedes in the last decade, with Lewis Hamilton (4), Nico Rosberg (1), and Valtteri Bottas (1) all topping the podium since 2014.  So, while they have been nowhere close to their best this campaign, Mercedes have plenty of prior experience on the Sukua Circuit, and in Hamilton, they have the Japanese GP’s second most decorated driver.

That’s not to say Red Bull won’t be feeling confident. They won four out of five races in Japan with Sebastian Vettel from 2009 to 2013. And the last winner of this race? You guessed it, Verstappen and Red Bull.

Japanese Grand Prix Betting Tips

Top 3 Finish: Lando Norris – 2.37

Norris has steadily improved this campaign and now has a top 10 finish in nine of his previous 10 races, including three podiums. He finished less than a second behind race winner Sainz in Singapore, and although Red Bull could be back with a vengeance, anything can happen.

Sergio Perez to win – 12.00

We’re expecting a strong response from Red Bull. Once again, there is no value in Verstappen, but there is plenty in Perez.
