World Cup 2022 Groups: Group F Preview

It’s not too surprising to see Belgium as huge 1.53 favourites to top their group, but their opposition should not be overlooked. World Cup 2018 runners-up Croatia have an extremely experienced squad, littered with talent such as Luka Modric, Ivan Perisic and Mateo Kovacic to name a few. They are always difficult to beat in major tournaments and were unlucky to meet Spain in the Euro 2020 round of 16, where they lost in extra-time.

Morocco are also a dark horse in the World Cup 2022 groups. One of Africa’s most successful nations, their squad features stars playing across Europe’s top leagues, with Hakim Ziyech and Achraf Hakimi among the best.

Canada boast some superstars of their own – namely Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David – the latter of which will cause even the best defences problems on his day. However, they look a little light defensively and are the biggest underdog to top the group at odds of 13.00.

Belgium will be expected to win all three games, but given the competitive nature of Group F, seven points should be enough to see them finish top. They have by far the most well-rounded squad of the four nations, but anything can happen in tournament football.

Martinez’s side kick off their competition against Canada on 23rd November, followed by Morocco on 27th November, and finally Croatia on the penultimate day of World Cup 2022 groups games. The odds are currently equal at 3.50 for Belgium to pick up seven or nine points – can they win three out of three or will there be a stumbling block?

World Cup 2022 Groups: Predictions

Belgium and Croatia are the most favoured picks from Group F, but reputation counts for nothing on football’s biggest stage. The Red Devils should have enough quality to qualify first, even if they’re not at their best. But second spot is certainly up for grabs.

We think Croatia will have the experience to see them over the line and snatch a place in the round of 16, but Morocco should push them close. The battle for a spot in the knockouts could come down to when these two nations meet in their first match.

Croatia are favoured for a reason, but Morocco seem slightly under-priced and provide much better value in their longer odds. Canada are sure to have a good go, but they lack a real core and will struggle in a tough group.

World Cup 2022 Groups: Group F Betting Tips

Group F straight forecast: 1st Belgium, 2nd Morocco – 6.50

If you’re looking for some longer odds, a straight forecast of Belgium to top the group and Morocco to finish second looks good. There shouldn’t be a nation that gets close to the world number two, but the fight for second will be an intriguing one.

Romelu Lukaku total goals in group: over 1.5 – 1.95

It’s touch and go over his fitness. However, if he is in contention to start in their opening game, this looks a cracking opportunity to double your money. He will be Belgium’s main man and should benefit from the creativity of Kevin De Bruyne and Eden Hazard.

Belgium total points: 7 – 3.50

We expect them to navigate the meeting with Canada fairly comfortably. Croatia and Morocco will be tricky tests and they could well slip up and take a single point in one of those matches.
