Torino vs Atalanta

Serie A gets underway this weekend with Gasperini’s exciting Atalanta side travelling to Turin to take on a Torino side who narrowly avoided relegation last season.

Atalanta have quickly established themselves as a fan favourite in Europe, with their free-flowing attacking football culminating in a 90 goal season, and also finishing as top scorers in the division. Luis Muriel and Duvan Zapata are a fearsome strike partnership for any team to deal with, and Torino will have their work cut out for them if they are to stop the Columbian duo getting on the scoresheet.

The signing of Udinese’s talented goalkeeper Juan Musso was a shrewd bit of business and his addition will only bolster Atalanta’s defence. They will be hoping they can go a step further this season and join the race for the title and this is why they’re the first team to start off our combo tips this weekend, as we see them taking all three points from weak Torino side.

Both teams to score and Atalanta to win @ 3.05

Hertha Berlin vs Wolfsburg

Two teams who had hugely contrasting seasons last time around face off in the second round of Bundesliga fixtures. Wolfsburg broke into the top four for the first time since 2014/15 and only RB Leipzig conceded fewer goals. They kicked off their campaign with a clean sheet and three points against Bochum.

Hertha on the other hand avoided the relegation places by just two points last season and were beaten comfortably by FC Koln in their opening fixture. The signings of Stevan Jovetic and Kevin-Prince Boateng will certainly add some class to their line-up, but we don’t see Hertha faring much better this season.

Wolfsburg got off to their perfect start with last season’s top goalscorer Wout Weghorst getting off the mark. Not only did the Dutchman look hungry for goals, but Wolfsburg have also signed brothers Lukas and Felix Nmecha, the former of which bagged 18 times in a successful loan spell at Anderlecht. There is quality throughout Mark van Bommel’s side, and we expect them to have another strong campaign.

Wolfsburg win @ 2.40

Southampton vs Manchester United

The Saints’ signing Adam Armstrong got off to the dream start as he put his new side 1-0 up in their opening fixture, but Southampton’s defensive frailties in the absence of big centre-half Jannik Vestergaard soon began to show as they conceded three in the second half and were beaten by Everton.

United are probably the last team that Southampton want to line up against given their problems at the back, with Solskjaer’s side finding the net five times against Leeds. Paul Pogba managed four assists and Bruno Fernandes scored his first hat-trick for the club as United steamrolled over Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Solskjaer will be looking for trophies this season with the Premier League title a dream – Southampton might be the second team on a long list of those beaten thoroughly by the Reds.

Man United win to nil @ 3.05
