When it comes to professional sport, there are few things more captivating than the Tour de France.

The ultimate test of endurance, millions of people line the streets in France each year to get a glimpse of the best cyclists on the planet.

In fact, approximately 3.5 billion people across the globe tune in to watch the high-intensity action, further highlighting the popularity of the event.

So, who will reign supreme in 2025? Well, below is a full Tour de France sports betting preview, complete with the latest outright odds available online.

Tour de France Preview

In recent years, the Tour de France has been dominated by two incredible athletes – Slovenia’s Tadej Pogacar and Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard.

Racing for UAE Team Emirates, Pogacar collected the crown in 2024, his third triumph after previous successes in 2020 and 2021.

In 2022 and 2023, it was Vingegaard who scooped the title while racing for Team Jumbo-Visma, so the majority of eyes will be on the two main contenders – and leaders in the betting market – as a result.

Their rivalry has arguably defined the sport of cycling in the 2020s and both men should be in peak condition after skipping the recent Giro d’Italia, an event which Pogacar won in 2024.

British rider Simon Yates emerged victorious at this year’s Giro d’Italia in the pair’s absence, so he is perhaps one to watch out for at the Tour de France, assuming the previous event has not taken too much out of him.

Another cyclist to keep an eye on is Belgian hero Remco Evenepol, an Olympic gold-medalist who has enjoyed previous success in a Grand Tour event.

Evenepol won the 2022 Vuelta a Espana, a multi-stage race that another standout name in Primoz Roglic has won a record-equalling four times.

Could the Team Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe rider be a dark horse? Well, Roglic has not reached the final stage of the Tour de France since 2020, so tread carefully when looking at his odds.

How Many Tour de France Stages Are There This Year?

In 2025, the famous race will be contested over 21 different stages.

Seven of these will be flat, six will be hilly and the other six will be mountainous – the ultimate test of an athlete’s endurance.

There will also be five mountain finishes, as well as two time trials over the course of the 23-day event, with two rest days included too.

And for the first time since 2020, none or even part of any of these stages will be held in a foreign country.
