Tottenham vs Chelsea: Premier League Preview & Betting Tips

A huge London derby takes the headline spot in this weekend’s festival of Premier League football.

The unpredictable force of Chelsea looked to be down and out at the close of last season but they have flown out of the blocks in 2023-24 and currently sit 2nd, seven points behind leaders Liverpool.

Spurs have been typically inconsistent and could do with another big win to boost their confidence at the start of the busy festive period.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview

Hosts Tottenham are in a strange place currently. They have some notable wins so far this season, taking down both Aston Villa and Manchester City, putting four goals past both of them.

But on the other hand, losses in games they were heavy favourites to win – such as the marginal defeats to Ipswich and Crystal Palace – have dented their overall progress and leaves them at risk of another season outside the top four.

However, it is still early in the campaign and a good run over the Christmas period could see them enter 2025 in a much more favourable position, one that they will believe more accurately represents their ability. But even more emphasis is placed on the issue by the beginning of negative conversations over some big-name players and even fan-favourite manager Ange Postecoglou.

Chelsea, however, are really starting to enjoy themselves after being written off by many at the start of the season due to their poor form at the end of the last Premier League campaign.

They were under vast scrutiny for their numerous big money signings, with doubts also cast over new manager Enzo Maresca. But the Italian boss has seemingly found some harmony with Chelsea’s big names and has them playing high-scoring, fluid football, much to the delight of fans.

They are still going under the radar in the title conversation, with most favouring leaders Liverpool or third-placed Arsenal. But do not count the Blues out. Their massive squad is packed with talent and they have the ability to go toe-to-toe with even the finest the division has to offer.

The Blues are dark horses for sure and will be confident going into Sunday’s clash after thrashing Southampton 5-1 on Wednesday evening.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Betting Tips

*Odds are correct at time of publication and subject to change

Cole-play
Manchester City’s boy has yet again been Chelsea’s man this season as Englishman Cole Palmer continues to take the Premier League by storm. He will be keen to add to his nine goals already this season. A Chelsea win, including a goal from Palmer, is at 5.32.

Three’s Electric
Both sides are famed for the number of goals they have scored this season (59 between them), so we expect Sunday to be a high-scoring affair. Over 3.5 goals in the game is at 1.92

Long Arm of the Draw
Each of these teams have shown traces of excellence this season and it is perhaps quite likely that 90 minutes will not be able to separate them. The game to end in a draw is at 3.62.
