Europe’s top five leagues have all concluded for the 2024-25 season.
Liverpool (England), Barcelona (Spain), Bayern Munich (Germany), Napoli (Italy) and Paris Saint-Germain (France) were crowned champions.
But instead of focusing on the teams in this blog, we are instead going to take a look at the individuals who excelled on some of football’s biggest stages.
Below are the five top scorers from the continent’s most prestigious divisions – and do not forget, next season we will be back with more brilliant online sports betting tips for football bets!
Mateo Retegui (Atalanta) – 25 goals
It really was a season to remember for Retegui, who finished top of the Serie A scoring charts by six goals. And six of the goals the Atalanta ace netted came in the two fixtures against Hellas Verona, with Retegui striking four times in the away game. He also scored home and away versus both Juventus and Napoli, which is an impressive achievement in itself.
Harry Kane (Bayern Munich) – 26 goals
Kane’s Bundesliga goals fired Bayern to the title – which represents the first major honour of the England captain’s career. His 26 goals came from just 31 fixtures and he also bolstered his collection of hat-tricks. Kane recorded trebles against Holsten Kiel, Stuttgart and Augsburg in the earlier part of the season. The ex-Spurs forward’s record in the German top flight now reads 62 goals in 63 games, which is quite frankly ridiculous!
Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) – 27 goals
At the age of 36, Lewandowski is still bagging goals for fun. Poland’s record scorer was as prolific as always during his 34 La Liga appearances, with his brace in the 4-0 win at Real Madrid on Matchday 11 surely a personal highlight. Lewandowski netted 14 times in the first 11 matchdays and his electric start to the campaign helped Barca eventually go on to claim the title.
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 29 goals
Salah secured the Premier League Golden Boot for the fourth time, equalling the previous record set by Arsenal legend Thierry Henry. Amazingly, Salah scored in 22 of Liverpool’s first 30 matches of the season, a level of consistency in front of goal that almost beggars belief. He slowed down towards the end of the campaign, but that did not matter one bit. And while Salah may not have recorded a single hat-trick, he tallied 19 assists to go with his goals. Insane numbers!
Kylian Mbappe (Real Madrid) – 31 goals
Mbappe’s first season in the white of Real Madrid ended without silverware, but he can still hold his head up high. The Frenchman failed to score in his first three La Liga appearances, but then burst into life. Mbappe netted nine goals in the final five matchdays of the Spanish top-flight campaign, a run which included a breath-taking hat-trick at Barcelona, albeit in a 4-3 loss. The former Paris Saint-Germain superstar is surely going to thrive even more under the leadership of new Los Blancos boss Xabi Alonso.
