Top 5 Jupiler Pro League Summer Signings

The Jupiler Pro League may not attract the same attention as other top divisions across Europe — but there was still plenty of business done ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.

If you are looking to place a Belgian football bet this season and beyond, you can place one with Bet777.

Before checking out the five players we believe will prove to be the best signings from this summer’s transfer window, do not forget that live betting is available throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

Leander Dendoncker (Anderlecht)

Leander Dendoncker made a welcome return to Anderlecht on loan from Aston Villa in August 2024 after an unsuccessful spell with Napoli.

The defensive midfielder progressed through Belgium’s youth levels before being handed his senior international debut during his first spell at Lotto Park.

Despite being a firm favourite in Brussels, the lure of the Premier League proved too good to resist and he joined Wolves on a season-long loan in August 2018, with the English side holding an option to sign him permanently.

Following an impressive campaign, Dendoncker was handed a full-time deal at Molineux and continued to shine before joining Midlands rivals Aston Villa in 2022.

With Villa boss Unai Emery making it clear the Belgium international did not feature in his plans, a short-term loan took him to Napoli in January 2024.

But with limited minutes, the Serie A side opted against signing him and the Villans shipped Dendoncker to Anderlecht for the 2024-25 season.

Jan-Carlo Simic (Anderlecht)

Anderlecht’s swoop for Jan-Carlo Simic in July 2024 could turn out to be a masterstroke.

Born in Germany, the Serbian youth international left AC Milan amid reports he was unhappy to have been included in the Italian club’s Milan Futuro squad for the 2024-25 Serie C campaign.

After a handful of appearances for the Rossoneri, the centre-back had seemingly believed he was destined for a place in the first-team squad.

But with his contract set to expire in June 2025, Milan allowed Simic to move on in search of regular football rather than keep an unhappy player on their books.

The Serie A giants will reportedly receive 20% of any future sale should he leave Anderlecht.

Christos Tzolis (Club Brugge)

Christos Tzolis was a busy man in the summer of 2024.

After a successful loan spell with Fortuna Dusseldorf in 2023-24, the German club exercised their option to sign him from Norwich on a permanent basis.

But Club Brugge moved swiftly to take him to the Pro League, handing the Greek international their No8 shirt and a deal until 2028.

Explaining the move, Fortuna chief Klaus Allofs said: “From a sporting perspective, we would have liked nothing better than to keep Christos.

“From an economic perspective, however, it is a necessary and positive transfer for Fortuna.

“Christos played his way into the hearts of the fans, identified 100% with Fortuna and played a major role in our sporting success. He is always welcome in Dusseldorf.”

Anan Khalaili (Union SG)

Born in Israel to an Arab-Israeli family, Anan Khalaili began his senior career with Maccabi Haifa.

And his first season as a professional, which saw the attacker score 14 times and provide six assists in 50 appearances, was enough to persuade Union SG to swoop for him in 2024.

Having represented his country of birth at youth level, Khalaili graduated to the senior side and is widely tipped to go from strength to strength from club and country.

He was handed a four-year deal upon arriving at the Joseph Marien Stadium.

Franjo Ivanovic (Union SG)

Born in Austria, Franjo Ivanovic has represented Croatia at various youth levels.

The forward began his senior career with Augsburg’s reserve side in Bavaria before joining Croatian outfit HNK Rijeka.

And Union SG came calling for his services in August 2024, handing Ivanovic a four-year contract.
