On Friday, the men’s semi-finals begin, with reigning champion Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz on course to meet in yet another Grand Slam final.

With the above in mind, we would be rather shocked if this match finished 3-0 to either player, even the magnificent Alcaraz. Yes, the reigning French Open champion defeated Jiri Lehecka by that exact scoreline in the quarters, but Djokovic still represents a step up in quality at the age of 38. Furthermore, Djokovic actually has a fairly good record against Alcaraz, beating the Spaniard in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open earlier this year. A four or five-set thriller on the cards? We certainly hope so!

Tournament favourite and reigning US Open champion Sinner looks close to unstoppable right now. After claiming a maiden Wimbledon title, the Italian sensation has blown away all competition in New York thus far. A lethal combination of speed, ferocity and quality, Sinner looks focused on retaining his crown. And after dropping the first set to Denis Shapovalov in the Third Round, Sinner bounced back with consecutive 6-1 first-set triumphs in the victories over Alexander Bublik and Lorenzo Musetti. So wagering on him to win the first set of this semi by at least four games could be a fantastic source of value!

But while we are tipping Sinner to explode out the traps in the semis, we can see Auger Alisassime making things a tad tricky for the World No1. Wins over Alexander Zverev, Andrey Rublev and Alex de Minaur to reach this stage highlight what a good player the Canadian star is. Sinner has not dropped a single set since the aforementioned surprise vs Shapovalov, but his opponent this time around may make things a bit more interesting for the neutral. Although, watching Sinner – priced at just 1.04 to win the match – in full flow is still quite the spectacle!
