Tennis: ATP Masters 1000 Canada – Quarter-Final Betting Tips

Wimbledon 2023

The latest edition of the ATP Masters 1000 Canada has been an absolute thriller.

Even without the biggest stars in tennis taking part, namely Jannik Sinner, Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic, the event has delivered high-octane sporting action throughout the duration.

In the men’s singles section, only eight stars remain, one of them being reigning champion Alexei Poyrin.

Can the Australian make it back-to-back wins in Toronto? We will soon find out, but below are some online sports betting tips for the latest round of this fantastic tournament, all of them featuring the latest tennis odds.

*All odds are subject to change

Alexei Popyrin to beat Alexander Zverev @ 3.45

Popyrin continues his title defence against the highly-ranked Zverev, who reached this stage in rather unusual circumstances. Francisco Cerundolo was forced to retire with injury at the start of the second set, paving the way for Zverev to reach yet another quarter-final. But Popyrin was hugely impressive on his route to the last eight, beating the highly-ranked Holger Rune in a sensational match. Popyrin seems to love this event, and while Zverev is the big favourite thanks to his pedigree and ranking, the German’s poor showing at Wimbledon and slightly inconsistent form leads us to believe that we could see something of an upset here.

Alex Michelsen to beat Karen Khachanov @ 2.74

We are predicting the pre-match underdog to also reign supreme in this intriguing quarter-final contest. Michelsen leads the head-to-head record between the pair (1-0) and has looked sharp throughout this tournament thus far. Of course, Khachanov has made light work of his opponents, but this undeniable step up in quality may be a bit of a shock to his system. Expect a close game between these two fantastic players, one in which we believe Michelsen will come out on top.

Taylor Fritz to beat Andrey Rublev @ 1.43

Fritz is now up to No4 in the world rankings following his epic tie-break victory over Jiri Lehecka in the Round of 16. Behind only Zverev in the rankings for this tournament, the highly-seeded American will really fancy his chances of claiming the win. Rublev impressed in his three-set win over Alejandro Davidovich, but this should be a step too far. Fritz to claim the win in three sets looks the most likely outcome here.

Ben Shelton to beat Alex de Minaur @ 2.34

We end by tipping another slight underdog in Wimbledon semi-finalist Shelton. The American ace is ranked No7 in the world, with De Minaur just behind him as the No8. So it is safe to assume that this will be a cracking match between two athletes with fantastic all-round games. De Minaur’s win over Frances Tiafoe was conducted in a more dominant manner than Shelton’s victory against Flavio Cobolli, but with his big serves and strong forehand, he still gets our seal of approval for what could be the standout quarter-final tie at the tournament. Interestingly, this is the first meeting between the pair, which only adds to the storyline!
