Signore e signori, calcio is finally back this weekend!
Serie A football makes its triumphant return tomorrow evening, and we are all set for an action-packed Matchday 1.
After looking at the odds and markets available for the first 10 fixtures of the season, we have selected four intriguing sports betting tips for your weekend bets on football.
And it all begins with reigning champions Napoli…
*All odds are subject to change
Kevin De Bruyne to score or assist for Napoli vs Sassuolo @ 1.73
Napoli may be missing Romelu Lukaku with a serious thigh injury, but Antonio Conte can call on a new Belgian attacking weapon in De Bruyne, who joined on a free transfer this summer. The veteran playmaker already showed his class in pre-season, scoring twice and tallying an assist in a 3-2 win over Girona. De Bruyne looks set to occupy a free role in Conte’s XI, which only elevates his chances of recording Serie A goal contributions. The 34-year-old scored four goals and assisted seven more in a stop-start Premier League campaign with Manchester City in 2024-25, so imagine the damage he can do with a new lease of life in Naples!
Roma to beat Bologna @ 2.13
Roma’s odds here look very good indeed, especially as Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are at home. The Giallorossi ended last season in pretty good fashion, winning four out of five and securing a 5th-place finish. Bologna may have won the 2024-25 Coppa Italia, but ended the Serie A campaign in disastrous style by losing their final three games. So betting on Roma to claim a Matchday 1 victory here potentially represents a fantastic source of value, with Irish striker Evan Ferguson adding more firepower to Gasperini’s forward line after completing a loan move from Brighton.
Lazio to beat FC Como and both teams to score @ 5.40
This is all set to be a fascinating game, one which is incredibly hard to call. Como are one of the most exciting teams in Europe right now and they have been busy in the transfer market, with Alvaro Morata a standout summer arrival. Maurizio Sarri is back in the Lazio hot-seat and he will be hoping to compete for the Champions League places this season, and you would be a fool to write him off! In 2024-25, Lazio actually had a superb away record, winning 11 of 19 matches, including a 5-1 win at Como last October. So the BTTS market here looks like a shrewd way to boost those potential winnings.
Jonathan David to score anytime for Juventus vs Parma @ 1.98
Juve have a brand new centre forward in Canada international David. After a successful stint at Lille, he is ready to take Serie A by storm. David scored in the 2-1 pre-season win over Atalanta last Saturday and finished the 2024-25 Ligue 1 campaign with 16 goals in 32 appearances. He really is a deadly striker, one who can light up Turin on Sunday evening. Parma had the fourth-worst away record in Serie A last term, a stat which will only further whet David’s appetite for goals on his Italian top-flight debut.
