Houston Rockets vs Utah Jazz
Utah are off to a flying start and once again, defensive dominance is the key for their NBA results thus far. Centre Rudy Gobert has averaged 19 rebounds across their opening 3 games and his control of the boards has left the Jazz with one of the best points conceded records across both divisions. Main man Donovan Mitchell has also averaged just over 20 points a game and we expect Utah to be too strong for the struggling Rockets.
Prediction: Utah Jazz
Dallas Mavericks vs San Antonio Spurs
After opening game defeat to the Hawks, Dallas have looked impressive in their NBA results. Shooting guard Luka Doncic has led the scoring in both of their 2 wins averaging 26.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 9.5 assists per game.
The loss of DeMar DeRozan was a big one for the Spurs and the likes of Lonnie Walker and Keldon Johnson will need to have big seasons in his absence. They have lost 3 of their opening 4 and we don’t think they can keep up with Doncic’s Mavs.
Prediction: Dallas Mavericks
LA Lakers vs Cleveland Cavaliers
In an attempt to regain their Championship, the Lakers have added to their star-studded roster with the signings of Carmelo Anthony and Russel Westbrook. After suffering disappointing defeats in their opening 2, they have bounced back in their last couple of games.
Power forward Anthony Davis has averaged 28 points across the opening 4 games, whilst Westbrook put up a 33 point double-double against the Spurs in the absence of Lebron. The Lakers look set to challenge for a ring this season and should be too much for the Cavs.
Prediction: LA Lakers
New Orleans Pelicans vs New York Knicks
The Knicks look set for another competitive season with power forward Julius Randle having started the campaign in hot form. Randle has averaged 25.5 points per game, and with the support of Evan Fournier and Derrick Rose, New York have won 3 of their opening 4 games including an impressive overtime win against the Celtics.
In the absence of superstar Zion Williamson, the Pelicans are yet to get going and will struggle against this in-form Knicks side.
Prediction: New York Knicks
Milwaukee Bucks vs San Antonio Spurs
Putting the defeat to Miami aside, the Bucks have looked good thus far. Giannis put up a 32 point double-double in the opening game to dispatch of a superstar filled Nets team, whilst forward Khris Middleton has averaged 27.5 points in the last two games. Milwaukee beat San Antonio by 10 points last time these two met and we expect the Champions to cruise past the Spurs again.
Prediction: Milwaukee Bucks
Golden State Warriors vs Oklahoma City Thunder
In their NBA results so far, Golden State are 4-0, the Thunder are 0-4. Steph Curry has looked back to his best and a 45 point double-double in the victory against the Clippers highlighted his desire to be back on top. OKC are struggling with their attack. They have failed to register 100 points on 3 out of 4 occasions despite Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s best efforts. Something needs to change for Oklahoma, but Curry is simply too good right now.
Prediction: Golden State Warriors
