LA Clippers vs Detroit Pistons
With Kawhi Leonard side-lined with a knee injury, the responsibility lies with Paul George to get the Clippers back to winning ways. PG-13 is a seven-time NBA All-Star thanks to his dominance in the basketball positions small forward and shooting guard. Not only has he averaged the most points per game (26.4) in the Clippers’ roster, but also leads the way in assists (5.3) and steals (1.8). Between Paul George and Reggie Jackson, the Clippers should get the job done against a Pistons side with just 4 wins in 17.
Prediction: LA Clippers
New York Knicks vs Phoenix Suns
After losing 3 of their first 4 games, the Suns have been on a 13 game win streak, putting them in 2nd place behind the Warriors in the Western Conference. Leading the way with 22.4 points per game, Devin Booker is once again establishing himself as one of the most proficient NBA shooters in his basketball position. With Chris Paul making plays and Deandre Ayton dominating the paint, this well-rounded Phoenix side should be too strong for the Knicks.
Prediction: Phoenix Suns
Orlando Magic vs Chicago Bulls
With just 4 winning NBA results thus far, Orlando are having a terrible start to the NBA season. In contrast, Chicago look as good as they have done in recent years, with the new addition DeMar DeRozan leadings the points per game from small forward. With creativity and precision from outside the arc, Zach Lavine is averaging 25.9 points and Lonzo Ball is making 4.5 assists. The Bulls also have powerful players in the basketball positions in the paint. Nikola Vucevic is contributing with points but has also managed over 10 rebounds per game. Chicago’s offense will simply be too much for Orlando.
Prediction: Chicago Bulls
San Antonio Spurs vs Boston Celtics
It was always going to be a difficult season when the Spurs lost their star man DeMar DeRozan. They have struggled with consistent point scoring and face a difficult visit from the Celtics. After a lacklustre start from Boston, they have improved in recent weeks with Jayson Tatum at the heart of their upturn in form and NBA results. The 23 year old is leading his team for points per game but has also been pivotal in the Celtics’ strong defensive game. Tatum has averaged 8.4 rebounds per game, 7.4 of which have been on the defensive end. San Antonio are already a struggling offence, and things won’t get any easier with the arrival of the Celtics.
Prediction: Boston Celtics
Utah Jazz vs New Orleans Pelicans
Only one team has won fewer games than the struggling Pelicans. With 16 defeats from 19, it is difficult to see how they could turn things around in the absence of Zion Williamson. Utah on the other hand have been strong all campaign, with Rudy Gobert once again proving why he is one of the best in his basketball position. Defensively dominant with 11.9 rebounds and supported by the relentless point scoring of Donovan Mitchell, the Pelicans are no match for the Jazz.
Prediction: Utah Jazz
Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers
Steph Curry is back to his best. Averaging 28.4 points and 6.6 assists per game, the point guard is both a creative genius and ruthless point scorer. Portland have been good this season, but not many teams can stop Curry in his current form. Damian Lillard will never shy away from the challenge, but we back Golden State to continue their early season dominance.
Prediction: Golden State Warriors
