The reigning Champions Milwaukee have struggled to get going since the start of the new campaign, with their NBA results reading as losing 4 of their first 7 matches. In contrast, Chicago Bulls, Miami Heat, Utah Jazz and Golden State Warriors have all got off to flying starts, losing just once each.

Detroit Pistons vs Brooklyn Nets
Detroit’s season seems over before it has really begun. They’ve lost 5 out of their opening 6 and haven’t been overly competitive in some of those defeats. These two teams met just a few days ago and Brooklyn came out on top, winning 117-91. Forward Kevin Durant and centre LaMarcus Aldridge dominated the paint, with James Harden orchestrating from deep. There is only one NBA result we can see here, with the Pistons look set to suffer the same fate.
Prediction: Brooklyn Nets
Golden State Warriors vs New Orleans Pelicans
Golden State are off to a flying start, and who other than poster boy Steph Curry to lead the charge. The Warriors have won 5 of their opening 6 and guard Curry has already led the points scored in 4 games. The Pelicans are not faring so well and have the joint worst record through 7 games. Brandon Ingram has delivered, but he can’t do it by himself.
Prediction: Golden State Warriors
Denver Nuggets vs Houston Rockets
Probably the most versatile centre in the league, Nikola Jokic has dominated in trademark fashion this season, top scoring in 5 out of 7 games. The Nuggets will come up against a Rockets team that have struggled at both ends of the court, failing to put up 100 points in half of their opening 6 games, resulting in some heavy defeats. Houston will be looking to kickstart their season, but Jokic will have other ideas.
Prediction: Denver Nuggets
Miami Heat vs Utah Jazz
This will be one of the most exciting match-ups of the season this far. Both are capable of dominating the paint, with Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler for Miami and Rudy Gobert for Utah. But both also have guards capable of winning games, and it is the battle between Donovan Mitchell and Kyle Lowry that could decide the tie. Miami look to have a little more firepower with Tyler Herro impressing as the 6th man and we think that could be the difference-maker.
Prediction: Miami Heat
Portland Trail Blazers vs LA Lakers
Neither of these sides have had the best NBA results of late. Damian Lillard is one of the most talented guards in the NBA but has not been controlling games as he did towards the back-end of last season. The Lakers have improved since suffering defeat in their opening two, and with as many match-winners as they have at their disposal, it’s difficult to bet against Lebron James’ side.
Prediction: LA Lakers
New York Knicks vs Cleveland Cavaliers
The New York Knicks look set for another strong season and it’s the recent form of Canadian small-forward RJ Barrett that has really stood out. The Knicks have already brushed aside the Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers, as well as beating Zach Lavine’s Chicago Bulls in a 1-point game. They will face an inconsistent Cavaliers side, who they need to beat if they are to keep pace with Chicago and Miami.
Prediction: New York Knicks
