Nations League: Italy vs Belgium Preview, Odds & Betting Tips

Italy host Belgium on Thursday night as they bid to make it a hat-trick of wins in the Nations League.

Luciano Spalletti’s men opened their campaign last month with back-to-back victories over France and Israel.

And they will be looking to keep the momentum going in front of a packed house at the Stadio Olimpico, a ground Spalletti knows well from his time in charge of Roma.

Italy vs Belgium Preview

While Spalletti will be confident of keeping his side’s unbeaten streak alive, Domenico Tedesco must lift his troops after a disappointing 2-0 defeat in France.

Having beaten Israel 3-1 in their opening game, Belgium were sunk by goals from Randal Kolo Muani and Ousmane Dembele in Lyon.

But the Red Devils will have to cope without skipper Kevin De Bruyne, who has asked for time off from the national team.

The playmaker, 33, has been absent for Manchester City since sustaining a thigh injury in September’s goalless draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League.

Speaking ahead of his side’s double-header, which sees Belgium host France after facing Italy, Tedesco said: “I had a long phone conversation with Kevin.

“He asked to skip this camp and also November to be able to take care of his body.

“The schedule has become even busier due to the Club World Cup. That is why he is not there now and in November.

“But when it really counts — the World Cup — he will be there.”

Not surprisingly given their form going into this fixture, Italy are priced as favourites at 2.06 to pick up three points. A draw may tempt bettors at 3.29 but only the brave will back an away win at 3.56, particularly as the Red Devils are missing star man De Bruyne.

Goals are likely to be on the menu when these sides collide. The hosts netted five in their opening two games, while the Belgians conceded three. And that is why a combination bet of Italy to win and a total of over 2.5 goals may be too good to ignore at 3.29.
