Both players will be keen to leave their mark on the tournament after they each secured 6-1 victories in their semi-final match ups. Littler took down Stephen Bunting, while Van Gerwen defeated Chris Dobey in convincing displays that only built the anticipation for tonight’s headline finale.
Littler, who fell at the final hurdle last year to Luke Humphries, will be more determined than ever to right last year’s wrongs and secure himself a first ever World Championship title. Much was made last time around of his young age and lack of experience, and only a year on he would still be the youngest winner of the tournament in history, were he to lift the prestigious Sid Waddell Trophy this evening.
