La Liga matches do not come much bigger than this!
It is a battle between two of the biggest clubs in Spain as new 2025-26 league leaders Barcelona host title-chasing Atletico Madrid at the new-look Camp Nou.
What a midweek match we have in prospect here, and we have previewed it in full for you below, picking out some more sports betting online tips based on the latest offering of football odds.
Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Preview
With 14 rounds of matches now complete, Barcelona are back to the top of La Liga after a 3-1 home win over Alaves, which preceded Real Madrid’s shock 1-1 draw with Girona.
So to say this is a huge match represents something of an understatement, with Diego Simeone’s Atletico lurking only three points behind the leaders.
Both of these teams are in superb league form ahead of kick-off, each winning their last four matches.
In fact, you have to go all the way back to the start of October for the last time Atletico dropped points in La Liga, which was a 1-1 draw at Celta Vigo.
Simeone’s side also impressed in the Champions League last week, claiming a dramatic 2-1 home win over Inter Milan thanks to a stoppage-time strike from Jose Maria Gimenez.
In stark contrast, Barca were beaten 3-0 at Chelsea, though responded well to defeat Alaves – albeit after going 1-0 down in just the first minute of the contest!
So this should be a fantastic midweek clash, one which is hard to call given the form of both sides.
Last season, these two played each other four times across all competitions, with Barca winning twice, Atletico claiming a sole victory and the other finishing as a draw.
Interestingly, Atletico’s one win came at Barcelona in La Liga last December, with Alexander Sorloth bagging the winner in the 96th minute after Pedri had given the hosts the lead.

Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid Betting Tips
Anytime goalscorer – Lamine Yamal @ 2.38
Yamal has been in great form of late, already with seven league assists to his name. The teenage star also has three goals in his last four La Liga appearances, and was on target in the 4-2 win at Atletico last season. As such, his odds here look very good indeed.
Anytime goalscorer – Alexander Sorloth @ 2.25
Sorloth enters this match on the back of a match-winning brace vs Oviedo – and his record against Barcelona is ridiculous. In six La Liga appearances, he has five goals vs the Catalan club, netting in five consecutive Spanish top-flight matches against them.
1st half result – Barcelona @ 2.17
We expect Barca to come flying out the traps here, as Hansi Flick’s side usually do on home soil. The Catalans were leading at half-time in each of the last two home league matches vs Athletic Bilbao and Alaves.
