Jupiler Pro League Rankings + Round 7 Preview

Domestic football is back this weekend and the return of the Jupiler Pro League promises some exciting clashes and plenty of shock results.

Only four of last season’s top eight currently occupying those positions in the Jupiler Pro League rankings, will there be much movement this weekend?

The last Pro League matchday saw 33 goals scored across the nine fixtures – an average of over 3.5 goals a game. So keep an eye on the live betting odds available for over 3.5 goals!

Club Brugge vs Oostende

Club Brugge will be looking to get back on track against a faltering Oostende side. Despite their lively start which saw them win 3 from their opening 4, the visitors have since stumbled, losing their last two without finding the net.

Brugge’s attacking midfield partnership of Ruud Vormer and Hans Vanaken have been impressive thus far and hold the key to unlocking Oostende.  With Club Brugge’s creativity and their energetic strike partnership, we think Phillippe Clement’s side will get back on track with a win.

Club Brugge to win @ 1.35

Eupen vs Antwerp

Eupen suffered their first defeat of the season last time out, as their 3 game win streak came to an end thanks to Seraing. They face a visit from Antwerp who have had a less than impressive start to their campaign, with only one win in five.

With Frey leading the line against a leaky Eupen defence, we think the visitors will find the net. However the home side have been free-scoring and will be equal to the challenge.

Draw @ 3.75

Waregem vs Cercle Brugge

Waregem go into this fixture off the back of an impressive trip to Oostende where Jelle Vossen continued his fine form with a brace.

The visitors are on a downwards trajectory having lost 3 on the bounce. They are still yet to score more than once in a game and are conceding with concerning regularity. This does not bode well given the form of Vossen and we can’t see anything other than a home win.

Waregem win @ 2.45

Anderlecht vs KV Mechelen

Mechelen seem to have turned a corner after losing three games in a row and have claimed four points from the last two fixtures. Anderlecht will have to stop Nikola Storm if they are to take all three points as expected.

Only four teams have scored fewer goals than Vincent Kompany’s side this season – a huge cause for concern. They were reliant on the goals of Lukas Nmecha last campaign and have failed to secure a convincing replacement.

Despite the lack of goals scored, Anderlecht aren’t conceding many either and they should have enough quality to see them through.

Anderlecht win @ 1.71

Gent vs Charleroi

These two sides combined for 11 goals in the last round of fixtures. Gent were clinical in front of goal, converting six of their 11 attempts in the shock hammering of Club Brugge and Charleroi dominated Beerschot VA in a 5-2 win.

It is hard to bet against Gent at home, where they have the best home record in the league. However, Charleroi are undefeated for a reason, we can see this one ending all square.

Draw @ 4.45

Seraing vs Standard Liege

Unexpectedly, there isn’t a lot separating these two sides so far this season in the Jupiler Pro League rankings. Youssef Maziz has had a phenomenal start to the season, scoring four and assisting twice in six games – Liege will have their work cut out to stop the Frenchman.

The visitors lost 4-0 to Saint Gilloise as they continue to struggle with finding a consistent goalscoring threat. Romanian Denis Dragus is yet to play more than 45 minutes in a game despite looking like one of Liege’s most dangerous players. Both sides have had rocky starts and we’re not confident in either side winning!

Draw @ 3.75

Genk vs Saint Gilloise

Undoubtedly the most exciting fixture of the weekend, this game promises goals!

Genk have won their last three, scoring seven in the process and only conceding once. The front three of Ito, Onuachu and Bongonda was scary enough, but the Belgian giants have added Ike Ugbo after signing the English striker from Chelsea. He got off to a flying start, scoring a late winner in Genk’s 1-0 win over rivals Anderlecht.

Saint Gilloise have the best defensive record in the Jupiler Pro League rankings, but it will be a serious task to stop Genk finding the net. We think both teams will find the net, but Genk will come out on top as they begin their title charge.

Genk win @ 2.35

Leuven vs Kortrijk

The loss of Thomas Henry to Serie A side Venezia is a huge blow to Leuven’s campaign, and it is hard to see who the goals will come from. They are yet to pick up a win thus far and we can’t see this being their first.

Kortrijk have had a positive start to this season, with Faiz Selemanie proving their most crucial goalscorer. Senegalese youngster Pape Gueye has just started getting in on the act, scoring off the bench in Kortrijk’s last two fixtures. We’ve got the away side to win and Leuven look to be in serious trouble.

Kortrijk win @ 2.55

Beerschot VA vs Sint Truiden

Beerschot VA have had a dreadful start to the season. Their only shining light has been Raphael Holzhauser. The Austrian has fought his way to a goal and three assists in a struggling side and remains their only hope of turning things around.

Sint Truiden haven’t had the best start either. They sit just three points clear of the relegation places as joint lowest goalscorers. This could go either way, but Beerschot will find themselves a win sooner or later.

Beerschot VA win @ 2.45
