Jupiler Pro League Rankings – Matchday 33

Just two games remain in the Pro League season, with plenty to play for at both ends of the Jupiler Pro League rankings.

The battle to secure a place in the Championship Group looks to be heading down to the wire, with Antwerp, Gent and Anderlecht separated by just one point from third to fifth place. Genk are in real danger of missing out on the top eight, as they head into the final two games tied on points with ninth place St. Truiden.

This weekend’s fixtures promise to be action-packed, so keep an eye on Bet777.be’s live betting odds as the games play out. All of the top five in the Jupiler Pro League rankings are favourite in the football betting odds heading into the penultimate game, but things could look drastically different come the end of the week.

Beerschot VA vs Club Brugge

Things have really fallen apart for Beerschot VA this season, with their relegation ending a two year stint in Belgium’s top-flight. With just two games remaining this campaign, they are 11 points adrift of potential safety, having accumulated just 16 points in 32 games. Aside from pride, the hosts have nothing left to play for this season, with a visiting Club Brugge expected to hand them a 25th league defeat as the champions attempt to close the gap on league leaders St. Gilloise. Six consecutive wins have seen Brugge edge to within five points of the front-runners, with the visitors eyeing up a third successive league title.

Club Brugge @ 1.32

Waregem vs St. Truiden

There is plenty on the line for both of these sides. Waregem go into this game having lost just once in their last six home games, knowing a point would more than likely be enough to avoid a relegation play-off thanks to their superior goal difference over Seraing. St. Truiden’s impressive end to the campaign has left them in a strong position to qualify for the Conference League Group, with five wins in the last seven leaving them level on points with Genk with two games remaining. Although Waregem won the reverse fixture 3-1, St. Truiden have been much improved since the early stages of the season and will be slight favourites heading into this tie.

St. Truiden @ 2.50

Oostende vs Seraing

Anything other than victory for Seraing cements their position in the relegation play-offs, whereas one point for Oostende mathematically secures their first division safety. This clash will see two of the worst defensive records in the Jupiler Pro League rankings come face to face, although four points in their last two games suggests Seraing may be in slightly better form coming into the game. That being said, the visitors’ recent away win against St. Liege ended an abysmal run of seven consecutive away defeats, and they haven’t won two aways games in a row all season. It will be a cagey affair, one which might seal Seraing’s fate.

Draw @ 3.50

KV Mechelen vs Kortrijk

Mechelen will come into this tie knowing a win will secure them a place in the Conference League play-off for the post-season. They will host a Kortrijk side that have lost eight of their last nine games but can neither be relegated nor reach the play-off groups. Despite drawing four consecutive games, the hosts have only lost once in nine, and they will have aspirations of achieving a place in Europe for next season. Mechelen’s attack is likely to cause Kortrijk’s back-line all sorts of problems – Hugo Cuypers has found the net five of their last six games and will be confident in firing his team further up the Jupiler Pro League rankings this weekend.

KV Mechelen @ 1.71

Leuven vs Antwerp

Antwerp’s outside chances of catching St. Gilloise have died out over the last couple of months, with four defeats in their last seven leaving them 11 points adrift of the league leaders. Although their opponents can potentially still find themselves in the play-offs, it seems unlikely with Leuven four points behind eighth place, with Cercle Brugge and St. Truiden both hovering above them in the Jupiler Pro League rankings. The visitors will certainly be favourites in Bet777.be’s betting odds, but Leuven’s form in the second half of the campaign has been impressive considering how they started the season. This will be a closer game than most might think, but Antwerp can’t afford to drop points.

Antwerp @ 2.00

St. Liege vs Union St. Gilloise

It might be clutching at straws to say Union’s form has been inconsistent of late – in spite of only winning three of their last six, they have lost just once in 16 games – but in reality, these dropped points have allowed champions Club Brugge to move within five points of them in the Jupiler Pro League rankings. Deniz Undav has not exactly been missing his strike partner Dante Vanzeir who is suspended, with the German forward netting five in his last three game as he continues his charge towards claiming the top goalscorer award. St. Gilloise can’t allow Brugge to get any closer going into the Championship Group.

Union St. Gilloise @ 1.74

Cercle Brugge vs Gent

Gent’s away form has been impressive since the turn of the year. They have won five consecutive domestic away games in 2022, including two wins over Club Brugge, but they will face an in-form Cercle Brugge side looking to break into the top eight this weekend. The hosts have lost just once in their last eight home games, but their confidence took a hit when they were beaten 5-0 on the road by Charleroi prior to the international break. The visitors will be slight favourites heading into the tie, and we think they will come out on top of a close affair.

Gent @ 2.10

Anderlecht vs Charleroi

Anderlecht currently sit level on points with fourth place Gent in the Jupiler Pro League rankings, with Vincent Kompany’s side having a dominant second half to their campaign. They have a home record among the best in the league, and despite Charleroi’s equally strong form, they are simply not the same side without Shamar Nicholson. Anderlecht’s performances have been attracting interest from around Europe, with plaudits for both Kompany’s system and some of the talent in his side. A win this weekend could see them climb into the top four ahead of the final game.

Anderlecht @ 1.50

Genk vs Eupen

Just one win in their last five has ended any hopes Genk had of making the top four. They are now dangerously close to dropping out of the top eight, with three teams below them still capable of snatching their spot in the Conference Group places. Their opponents this weekend have been victorious on only one occasion in their last 15 games, a record which means they are not yet safe from the relegation play-offs. We full expect Genk’s quality to show in this one, and they won’t need to be at their best to win this game.

Genk @ 1.40
