The Champions finally stepped it up a gear in their last outing as they ran rampant against a helpless Waregem side. If you were live betting during the game, you may have got some great odds as Brugge had so many chances not hit the back of the net, despite winning 0-4!
The strike partnership between youngsters Noa Lang and Charles de Ketelaere continued to impress as they both found the net, proving Phillipe Clement’s decision to leave veteran goalscorer Bas Dost on the bench was the right one. The free flowing, attacking football of the Champions looked back to its best, and the nature of the victory secured their status as heavy favourites in our Jupiler Pro League preview against a struggling Beerschot VA side.
Peter Maes took over from Hernan Losada with visions of breaking the top eight, but the dream could not be further from the reality, with Beerschot losing three of their first four games and sitting rock bottom of the table with just one point.
Things need to change if they want to avoid a relegation battle, but can they start to turn things round with a trip to Bruges, carry on reading our Jupiler Pro League preview to find out what we are tipping for your online bets on this match!
Any hope for Beerschot VA?
Things need to change for Beerschot – and quickly. They have failed to score on three occasions already this season and are leaking too many goals. They have some talent in the squad, but their hopes really only lie with one man – Raphael Holzhauser.
Holzhauser was instrumental in Beerschot VA’s impressive finish last season. Nearly everything positive came through the Austrian as he finished the season with 16 goals and 16 assists in 34 appearances – almost a goal contribution per game. As Maes has struggled to settle on a formation since taking charge, Holzhauser has played across the midfield and forward line, not yet managing to find the form that spearheaded his side’s unexpected campaign last season.
If Beerschot are to stand any chance in their trip to Bruges, the Austrian must take control of the game – a task which is easier said than done against the Champions. He is best suited in the hole behind the striker and it will be interesting to see if Maes opts for a 4-2-3-1 or sticks with a 3-4-3.
Club Brugge to gain momentum?
Clement’s Club Brugge side are a problem for anyone on their day. They will fancy their chances of taking all three points in this tie as their fluidity in attack should be too much for Beerschot to deal with. The visiting side have chopped and changed their formation in an attempt to find solutions to their defensive woes, but Brugge’s setup should be effective in either scenario.
Lang and de Ketelaere will occupy the centre halves of Beerschot with their interchanging play and runs in behind. They are also both technically astute enough to drop off into the holes between the opposition’s defence and midfield, which creates space for their forward thinking central midfielders Ruud Vormer and Hans Vanaken, who were both on the scoresheet against Waregem. Vanaken has registered a double digits goal tally in each of his six seasons for Brugge and Vormer is no stranger to finding the net either.
To conclude our Jupiler Pro League preview of this match; With the depth of their squad and all the attacking talent they have, we can’t see any result other than a Club Brugge win to go with for your sport betting today. The Champions showed signs of being back to their best last time out, and if they are looking to make a statement to the rest of the league, Beerschot VA could be on the end of a thrashing.
