Some shock results in recent weeks have shaken up the Pro League, as things start to get serious in the run up to the end of the season. Things are looking different at both the top and bottom of the table, as the picture of what teams need to do to ensure they meet their goals becomes clearer.
As usual, we’ve got a thrilling set of fixtures to look forward to, so read on as we preview the weekend’s action and share our thoughts.

Gent to beat Mechelen @ 2.95
A match of great significance to both teams, but for very different reasons. Gent will be spurred on by their continued chase for European football next season. Sitting in 6th, their position is still precarious, with Standard Liege only a point behind. If Gent want to secure their place in the Championship Play-Offs, they cannot afford any mistakes.
Mechelen, on the other hand, are only a point from being plunged into a fierce relegation battle, and any wins would go a long way to securing their survival for another year. Both sides will be determined to come out on top, but on this occasion, we favour Gent to get the job done.
Dender to beat STVV @ 2.84
At the bottom of the table, they don’t come much bigger than what will be a six-pointer between Dender and STVV. With both sides at risk of the drop, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Dender are two points clear of the relegation fight currently, but could be dumped into the bottom four any week with a loss.
So they’ll need to be on top form to overcome an STVV side trying to haul themselves out of the relegation zone. Both sides are in poor form, with Dender losing their last three games. However, we’re backing them to bounce back with three points this weekend.
Standard Liege to beat Westerlo @ 4.50
Another tie with repercussions for both the top and the bottom of the table. Standard travel to Westerlo a mere point from the Championship Play-Offs, and with ambitions of securing their place sooner rather than later. They have been fierce competitors up until now and hope to overtake Gent and claim the all-important 6th spot.
Westerlo are just a point from safety and desperately need three points to try and remove themselves from the relegation question. They have home advantage this weekend, but Standard are a strong outfit and should be able to defy the pre-match odds.
Anderlecht vs Antwerp: Draw @ 3.30
Probably the featured game of Matchday 25, especially as it will be the second meeting between the two in just four days. Anderlecht trail Antwerp by just a point after a shock 1-0 defeat at Gent last weekend.
So Antwerp will want to maintain and perhaps extend that lead as they take on their familiar foe of recent weeks. It should be another fantastic Pro League match and with each side now used to the other, we’re opting for a hard-fought draw.
