Things tightened up at the top of the league in the latest round of Jupiler Pro League calendar fixtures. A rare defeat for league leaders St. Gilloise allowed Antwerp and Club Brugge to close the gap back to 4 points.

We saw plenty of goals last weekend with 7 out of 9 games featuring over 2.5 goals and 6 fixtures seeing both teams find the net. Keep an eye on Bet777.be’s live betting odds for both to score and over 2.5 goals to give yourself a chance of winning big this weekend.

St. Truiden vs St. Gilloise

Front-runners St. Gilloise hit a bump in the road last time out as they were beaten 3-1 by Leuven in a shock upset. The defeat ended their 6 match winning streak and reduced their lead at the summit of the table back to 4 points. We expect the visitors to bounce back immediately against a St. Truiden side incapable of establishing a good run of form.

In spite of the 3 goals conceded last time out, St. Gilloise still have the joint best defensive record and have scored 10 more goals than next best finishers Anderlecht. They will be raring to go and desperate to put things right this weekend.

St. Gilloise win @ 1.66

Leuven vs Gent

On the face of it, Gent are favourites to win this game, but Leuven have looked good in recent weeks. They have lost just once in their last 8 league games and provided a shock upset in their previous outing against a St. Gilloise side that looked unstoppable. Xavier Mercier has been instrumental in their upturn in form, with the French playmaker providing 3 goals and 6 assists already this season.

Gent are also in good form. Basing their game on defensive solidarity, no team in the league has conceded fewer goals. However, they have struggled on the road this season, with just 8 of their 24 points coming in away games, whereas Leuven have done their best work on home soil. Leuven could potentially upset the odds once again.

Draw @ 3.95

Oostende vs Eupen

The 3-0 defeat to Antwerp in last weekend’s Jupiler Pro league calendar was Oostende’s 5th loss in a row, a run which has seen them concede 16 goals and score just 4. They have talent in their attack, but they are too reliant on the likes of Makhtar Gueye and Thierry Ambrose to get them out of jail. With the joint worst defensive record in the league, Oostende need to turn things around if they are to avoid a relegation scrap.

Eupen aren’t in particularly good form and are without a win in 6 league games. They have struggled to find the net with any real consistency in recent weeks, something which Oostende will be hoping they can capitalise on. We think it will be an open game which their forwards will relish.

Oostende win @ 2.45

Kortrijk vs Cercle Brugge

The home side have drawn their last 4 games, but a point against the likes of St. Liege and Anderlecht are positive ones for Kortrijk. They will be favourites for this game against a Cercle Brugge side that picked up their first win in 9 attempts last time out. The win was an impressive one, but Brugge’s lack of a clinical finisher means their chances of outscoring teams on a regular basis remain slim.

Kortrijk aren’t the most ruthless side in front of goal themselves, but Pape Habib Gueye and Faiz Selemanie have contributed with goals regularly this season. We think the home side will take all 3 points.

Kortrijk win @ 2.30

Club Brugge vs Seraing

The Champions have not been in the best form of late, but they showed resilience and character to come from behind with 10-men to beat Genk in their last outing. It was promising talents Noa Lang and Charles de Ketelaere that combined for the equaliser, with substitute Federico Ricca providing an 82nd minute winner.

Although Seraing have won their last 2 games, we expect that streak to come to a halt in Brugge. The home side can’t afford to drop anymore points, with Antwerp firing on all cylinders and St. Gilloise looking to bounce back. Club Brugge will be too strong in all departments for the visitors.

Club Brugge win @ 1.25

Beerschot VA vs Antwerp

Beerschot’s unexpected 3 match unbeaten streak came to an end with a disappointing defeat to Waregem last time out. They have improved in recent games but face a difficult task as they host Antwerp in this week’s Jupiler Pro League calendar fixture.

The visitors brushed aside Oostende in their last game, with Michael Frey netting his 15th in 16 games and Viktor Fischer helping himself to a goal and an assist. They simply have too much attacking talent for this Beerschot side to contend with, and the home team could see themselves as many as 11 points adrift of safety come the end of the weekend.

Antwerp win @ 2.20

Anderlecht vs Waregem

Anderlecht comfortably navigated what could have been a tricky tie against Charleroi last weekend. Left-back Sergio Gomez’ phenomenal start to the season continued as the Spaniard grabbed a brace to seal Vincent Kompany’s side the win – Gomez has now directly contributed to 11 goals in 16 games this campaign.

They will host a Waregem side that are priced at 13.00 to pick up an away win. Although they have proven there is goals in the attack, they concede far too many goals. This poses a problem as they face an Anderlecht team with numerous high quality attacking outlets. This should end in a home win.

Anderlecht win @ 1.23

St. Liege vs Charleroi

It’s not easy to back St. Liege in their current form. Just 1 win in 9 games has seen them slump to 12th in the league table, with only 2 teams having scored fewer goals. They were comfortably beaten by Gent last weekend and never really looked like causing too much problems.

Charleroi can beat anyone on their day, but their inconsistent performances are the main reason they look unlikely to keep pace with the top four. They do have plenty of quality going forward and we expect them to test this St. Liege team lacking in confidence, but we think the home side will hold on for a point.

Draw @ 3.65

KV Mechelen vs Genk

Given the quality in this Genk side, it is unacceptable that they have only managed 1 win in 7 league games. After opponents Club Brugge went down to 10-men and Genk took a 2-1 lead, it seemed certain they would get one over on their rivals. But poor defensive work resulted in them throwing away a game which they should have picked up at least a point from. They are already 13 points off the league leaders, but a win would see them close the gap on 4th place Mechelen to 2 points.

After a 2-1 win over Club Brugge, Mechelen looked set to build on that promising performance. However they were beaten 3-1 by 17th place Cercle Brugge last time out in a game which they struggled to create chances in. We expect them to bounce back with a better performance against Genk, and given the away sides poor form, they should have enough to pick up a point.

Draw @ 3.60
