Jupiler Pro League champions Union Saint-Gilloise are eyeing up a second consecutive title after a huge win over rivals Club Brugge last weekend.
Up next for David Hubert’s table-toppers is a home match against Gent, one which they enter as the heavy favourites for victory.
But at this stage of any Pro League season, upsets often occur – and Gent are more-than capable of really testing USG’s title credentials in Brussels.
Wednesday night’s encounter promises more thrills and spills, and you can check out our full sports betting online preview below, which features tips and the latest Belgian football odds.
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Gent Preview
USG’s quest for another Pro League crown was given its biggest boost yet last weekend.
The 2-1 win over main competitors Club Brugge, secured by an 81st-minute goal from Besfort Zeneli, has seen them open up a four-point lead at the top of the table.
Furthermore, the potentially season-defining victory also preserved USG’s incredible home record in 2025-26, as they are yet to suffer a top-flight defeat in front of their own fans.
So Gent will be well aware of the size of the task at hand here, and the play-offs have not exactly been a happy hunting ground thus far.
After ending the regular season in fantastic style with three consecutive wins, Gent are yet to taste victory at this stage, with draws vs Mechelen (1-1) and STVV (0-0) either side of a 3-1 defeat at Anderlecht.
The early play-off stats suggest an easy win for USG here, though Gent are actually the only team to prevent Hubert’s side winning at home in the Pro League this season.
Gent picked up a credible 1-1 draw in Brussels back in December, and must look to that performance – and result – as a source of inspiration for Wednesday evening.
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Gent Odds
*All odds are subject to change
Union Saint-Gilloise are big favourites to pick up yet another home victory at a price of 1.46. A win for Gent is at long odds of 7.35, while the draw here is 4.50.
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Gent Betting Tips
Both teams to score – No @ 1.78
Gent’s attacking powers appear to have waned under the play-off pressure, and USG’s defensive strength at home is well-known. The reigning Pro League champions kept clean sheets in two of their previous three home games, and we fancy them to make it three from four here with this BTTS selection.
Total goals – Under 2.5 @ 2.05
As well as clean sheets kept in two of USG’s previous three home games, this selection also landed. The table-toppers are more-than capable of firing in plenty of goals, but we just think the inescapable title pressure may result in a low-scoring affair here, one with less than three goals.
