Club Brugge are really starting to flex their Pro League muscles as they eye a late surge to the top of the table. Ivan Leko’s men followed up a 4-1 win at Mechelen on the final weekend of the regular season with a 4-2 victory over Anderlecht on Matchday 1 of the Play-Offs. It was a superb display overall, and one we expect them to back up when on the road this weekend. STVV have lost each of the last three top-flight games, albeit the last two against reigning champions USG (1-3 & 1-0). But defeats of any kind hurt player confidence, which is far from ideal before facing in-form Club Brugge.

Games involving Anderlecht have certainly been goal-filled in recent times. As mentioned above, the Mauves were part of a six-goal thriller in Bruges last time out, with over 3.5 goals scored in five of their previous six Pro League games. But we are still playing it slightly safer here by opting for over 2.5, with Gent drawing 1-1 vs Mechelen last time out. Table-toppers USG are in typically good form, with five wins from their last six matches. A second consecutive title looks firmly on the cards for David Hubert’s side, though the team will be wary of chasers Club Brugge. But USG have coped incredibly well with pressure throughout the season, and we expect the Croky Cup finalists to continue that trend here. Of course, Mechelen can be a real force on home soil, with recent wins over Anderlecht (1-0) and Zulte Waregem (2-1). However, USG are a significant step up in class, and we are backing them to land another decisive blow in this enthralling title race.
