The last round of fixtures saw the top six continue to assert their dominance at the top of the table with wins, whereas the bottom six all tasted defeat.
We’ve taken a look ahead at this weekend’s Jupiler Pro League calendar to help you with your football bets. Take a look at our football odds and place your online bets with Bet777.be – the best place to bet on the Jupiler Pro League.
Club Brugge vs Leuven
This looks to be one of the biggest mismatches this season. Club Brugge have only lost once, whereas Leuven have only managed one win. The Champions will be looking to pull away from the rest of the league early on and Leuven won’t pose much of a threat.
The visitors are yet to keep a clean sheet in their opening 8 fixtures and it won’t get any easier against Brugge’s in-form, dynamic attack. We fully expect the Champions to dominate proceedings and brush Leuven aside.
Club Brugge win @ 1.28
Beerschot VA vs Eupen
Beerschot’s nightmare start to the season continued last time out as they were handed their 7th defeat from 8 at the hands of Oostende. Even at this early stage of the Jupiler Pro League calendar, they look favourites for relegation.
They face an Eupen side who have the best away record thus far, having picked up three wins and a draw on the road. Beerschot are yet to score at home and we can’t see them picking up a result in this one given their poor recent performances.
Eupen win @ 2.45
Waregem vs Kortrijk
This is an interesting match-up between two teams with standout players. Despite having two in-form forwards in Vossen and Gano, Waregem are struggling to pick up wins.
They have only kept 1 clean sheet in 8 games and they will need to improve defensively if they are to stop the inevitable Faiz Selemanie finding the net. The Comoros national took his tally to 5 for the campaign last time out.
Although the visitors sit 5 points clear of the home side, we think this looks a relatively even battle and can see it ending all square.
Draw @ 3.75
Standard Liege vs Sint Truiden
Standard Liege faltered once again last time out as they lost a man early on and were beaten 1-0 by a strong Anderlecht side. On their day, Standard are defensively astute and can shut teams out, but other times we have seen them dismantled and handed heavy defeats.
Both sides are struggling to find a consistent goal scorer, for STVV they have at least had Suzuki return to action, scoring in his return vs Genk. If the home side turn up on the day, St. Truiden will have a hard time taking anything from this game.
Standard Liege win @ 2.05
Saint Gilloise vs Antwerp
We expect goals with three of the top Pro League scorers in action in this match! Frey has 9 in 7 games for Antwerp, and Saint Gilloise strike pair Undav and Vanzeir have 11 between them.
The home side go into this one as favourites in a game that looks like it could be a goal fest. We think Undav and Vanzeir will give Antwerp’s backline some serious problems.
Saint Gilloise win @ 1.51
Gent vs Cercle Brugge
Neither of these sides have started the season well. When the home side hammered the Champions 6-1, it looked as if they would kick on and climb the table. However they have continued to struggle and will need to turn things around soon if they are to make the top 8.
Spanish talent Millan has been a shining light for Cercle Brugge, but the visitors have been unable to build any momentum, picking up just one win in their last 7. Although Gent have had a poor start, we think their quality will be enough in this tie.
Gent win @ 1.40
Oostende vs Anderlecht
Oostende managed to stop their 3 game losing streak last time out with a 3-1 win over Beerschot. Gueye was on target yet again as the Senegalese striker continued his impressive start to the season. He will be pivotal if Oostende are to take points from an Anderlecht side that are starting to build a head of steam.
The signing of Kouame has given Anderlecht another option in their deep attacking pool and young Belgian playmaker Verschaeren has had an inspired start to the campaign. Anderlecht are improving and we think they will be too good for this youthful Oostende side.
Anderlecht win @ 1.80
Charleroi vs KV Mechelen
Charleroi were handed their first defeat of the season in a narrow 1-0 loss against Club Brugge. In a game that could have gone either way, it was an injury time goal that sunk the home team. With Zaroury and Nicholson leading the line, Charleroi fans have a lot to be excited about for the rest of the Jupiler Pro League calendar!
Given Mechelen’s away form thus far, we can’t see them getting anything from this game. They have only gained a point on the road and are conceding far too consistently. Storm has continued to act as the focal point, and with great effect – but the Belgian can’t do it all on his own.
Charleroi win @ 2.10
Genk vs Seraing
Genk have started flexing their muscles in recent weeks and their strength in depth is impressive. We expect them to be back to full strength this week with their dominant midfield and dynamic attack – a scary combination for any team to deal with.
Seraing’s results have been a mixed bag thus far, but they tend to fall short when it comes to facing the top clubs. They’ve been beaten by Anderlecht, Standard Liege and Antwerp – we think Genk will be added to that list.
Genk win @ 1.30
