Dominance at the top continued in the 17th round of Jupiler Pro League calendar fixtures. St. Gilloise, Antwerp and Club Brugge all picked up three points to keep things tight at the summit, whilst wins for Charleroi and Anderlecht placed them firmly in the mix for a Championship play-off spot.
Draws have been few and far between in recent weeks, with just a single tie occurring in each of the last three rounds of games. Keep this is mind when placing your football bets with Bet777.be.

Charleroi vs Oostende
Oostende finally put an end to their five match losing streak in their last outing, with Makhtar Gueye back amongst the goals in their 2-1 win over Eupen. The three points were a boost but they were unable to pick up a desperately needed clean sheet, as they still search for their first since match week 3.
Charleroi made it five wins from seven last time out as they comfortably dispatched of a lifeless St. Liege. Shamar Nicholson took his tally to double figures for the campaign and it is the Jamaican’s goals which have launched Charleroi into the top four. Oostende’s joy might be short-lived as they travel to face an impressive Charleroi outfit.
Charleroi win @ 1.68
Kortrijk vs Leuven
Kortrijk’s run of four consecutive draws came to an end as they were beaten 2-0 by Cercle Brugge, making it just one win in their last nine league games. With the best defensive record in the bottom half, the home team will have to be compact if they are to stop the talent in Leuven’s attack.
The visitors have impressed in recent weeks, despite a couple of defeats. Although they haven’t been given much chance in the odds, we like their chances of picking up a point on the road. Xavier Mercier and Mathieu Maertens are in fine form and can give any defence problems on their day.
Draw @ 3.40
Eupen vs Beerschot VA
After a small resurgence, this season’s normality has resumed for Beerschot, who have lost their last three in all competitions without scoring a goal. They are still eight points adrift from safety and will need to get back to winning ways sooner rather than later to give themselves a chance.
Things looked positive for Eupen’s campaign when they lost just twice in their opening 10 games in the Jupiler Pro League calendar. They have since lost five in seven and are yet to pick up a win in that time. They will take confidence from the form of their top goalscorer Smail Prevljak, who scored a hat-trick in their Belgium Cup win and also found the net in their defeat to Oostende. We think the Bosnian will be on the scoresheet again and expect Eupen to end their winless run.
Eupen win @ 1.83
St. Truiden vs Cercle Brugge
We’re not sure what to make of St. Truiden’s inconsistent performances this season. Ultimately, we think they will be too good to avoid a potential relegation battle, but don’t have enough to challenge for the play-off places. Despite losing to St. Gilloise last time out, they were competitive for large parts of the game and will take confidence from that.
The visitors have won two games in a row for the first time this season, with young Welsh talent Rabbi Matondo finding his feet in Belgian football. The Man City graduate is Cercle Brugge’s most impressive attacking talent and he could play a crucial role in helping his side avoid the drop. They are underdogs, but we think they could upset the odds in this one.
Cercle Brugge win @ 3.10
Seraing vs Anderlecht
It appears that Vincent Kompany has got his team firing. Bayern loanee Joshua Zirkzee is contributing with both goals and assists, whilst veteran Israeli Lior Refaelov has found his shooting boots too. There is a lot to like about this Anderlecht side going forward, and with just one defeat in their last 14 games in all competitions, we think they have the momentum and form to cruise past Seraing. Although the home side have put some distance between themselves and the bottom two, they will do well to take anything from this game.
Anderlecht win @ 1.57
Antwerp vs St. Liege
St. Liege slipped further down the table last time out and they were brushed aside by Charleroi. It is now just one win in their last 10 league games, a run of awful form which sees them sit in 13th place, just four points off the relegation places. Although we think they will have enough to avoid being in any real danger of the drop, they risk letting this season amount to nothing if their form doesn’t improve soon.
Antwerp on the other hand have plenty to play for, and with three clean sheets in the last four, they will be confident in keeping another one against one of the league’s least prolific attacks. They also have Michael Frey at the other end of the pitch, who will always find the net given half a chance. Antwerp should dominate.
Antwerp win @ 1.83
St. Gilloise vs KV Mechelen
St. Gilloise were quick to put their defeat to Leuven behind them as they got back to winning ways on the road. A Deniz Undav brace secured the points as the German replaced Michael Frey at the top of the league’s top goalsocring table. With eight goals in the last four, he is in simply unplayable form.
Mechelen defended resiliently to hold on for a point against Genk, after playing the last half hour with 10 men. They have started to lose some momentum in recent games, slipping down to 7th place after a loss and a draw. We think they have plenty of quality throughout their side, but not many teams can go head to head with this St. Gilloise team and come out on top.
St. Gilloise win @ 1.60
Gent vs Genk
These are two sides in greatly contrasting form. Only two teams have picked up more points than Gent in the last 10 games, and the home side have the best defensive record in the league with just 17 conceded. On the other hand, only one team has picked up fewer points than Genk in the same time period.
The visitors are already 15 points off the league leaders and have no real hope of challenging for the title. They can still achieve a place in the top four, and with the attacking talent at their disposal, they will give any defence trouble on their day. Despite their poor form, we expect them to turn things around at some point, but Gent won’t be brushed aside easily.
Draw @ 3.45
Club Brugge vs Waregem
This tie features one of the biggest underdogs in this weekend’s Jupiler Pro League calendar fixtures. Waregem are priced at 13.00 to get the better of the Champions, as Clement’s side look to close the gap on St. Gilloise. Their last outing saw Bas Dost’s fine form continue, as well as Noa Lang and Charles de Ketelaere getting back amongst the goal contributions. They will face some stiff opposition from Waregem’s front two, who have managed 21 goals between them, but we think they will come out on top.
Club Brugge win @ 1.21
