Jupiler Pro League Calendar – Matchday 13 Preview

This week’s fixtures in the Jupiler Pro League calendar will see Saint Gilloise look to extend their lead at the summit as they face a tricky trip away to Gent. At the opposite end of the table, Beerschot VA will attempt to gain some ground on their relegation rivals as they host a struggling Seraing.

Matchday 12 in the Jupiler Pro League calendar offered plenty of surprise results and an abundance of goals. Both teams netted in 7 out of 9 games and 6 fixtures featured over 2.5 goals. So keep an eye on our live betting odds at Bet777.be.

Oostende vs KV Mechelen

Oostende seem to have tightened things up and have lost just once in their last 5. The 1-0 defeat to Kortrijk last time out was a disappointing one and the Oostende will be looking to bounce back this weekend. With Makhtar Gueye leading the charge, you can never rule the young side out.

Mechelen were held to a 2-2 draw against Waregem last week, ending their 4 match win streak. Hugo Cuypers has played an important creative role at the forefront of their attack and Kerim Mrabti has found his feet in recent weeks, netting twice in his last 3 league appearances. It looks an even game on paper and we think they will share the points.

Draw @ 3.40

Charleroi vs Eupen

Despite defeat in their last two fixtures, Eupen still have the best away record in the league. Smail Prevljak continues to be the driving force in his team’s performances, having created 3 and scored 4 goals of his own. Centre-half Emmanuel Agbadou is also enjoying a surprising run of fine goalscoring form and the Ivorian has found the net 4 times already this season; a constant danger from set pieces.

Charleroi have been fairly consistent this season and wins over Genk and Seraing in recent weeks have seen them climb into the top 8. Jamaican Shamar Nicholson continues to impress in front of goal, taking his tally to 7 in 10 games last time out. Ryota Morioka has been important in a supportive role and has 4 assists to his name thus far. The home side are in better form, and with Nicholson looking unstoppable, we think they will get the job done.

Charleroi win @ 1.80

Beerschot VA vs Seraing

If there was ever a time for Beerschot to kick-start their season, it is this week. Although they have still failed to find the net at home, they face a visit from a Seraing side which has lost 5 of their last 6 – they have conceded 14 in that time. The game is must win for the home side; defeat against a potential relegation rival could seal their fate, even at this early stage.

Both of these sides have been leaking goals, so we could be in for an end to end affair with plenty of goals. Beerschot simply can’t lose again, but we think they will.

Seraing @ 2.75

Standard Liege vs Kortrijk

Standard Liege have had a poor start to the campaign and have now only managed 1 win in their last 7 games. Only Beerschot have scored fewer goals than Liege, which is not a good look for the once giants of Belgian football.

Just when Kortrijk look on a downward slope, they pop up with a good result. The 1-0 win against Oostende was far from convincing, but left them on the edge of the Conference League Play-Off positions. They face a tough task to overcome Liege on the road, but the home side are in terrible form and now is the best time to play them.

Draw @ 3.50

Sint Truiden vs Club Brugge

The 4-1 defeat against Leuven in the last round of the Jupiler Pro league calendar was a bad one. With no real goalscoring threat and a shaky defence, the inconsistent home side will have to pull out their best performance of the season if they are to stop the Champions.

Club Brugge were held by Antwerp on the road last time out; not a bad result on the face of things. But given Saint Gilloise are running riot, anything less than victory for the Champions will feel like defeat. Brugge should be too much for an uninspired Truiden side.

Club Brugge win @ 1.55

Waregem vs Genk

This might be the surprise of the weekend. Genk are in dreadful form. They have lost their last 5 in all competitions and have failed to score in 4 of those games – this simply isn’t acceptable for such a talented frontline. Their form has seen them slip into the bottom half and they risk falling too far behind the frontrunners to mount a genuine title challenge later in the Jupiler Pro League calendar.

Waregem have started to turn their season around in recent weeks. Although Jelle Vossen and Zinho Gano will receive the plaudits thanks to their 15 goals between them, it is the form of Jean-Luc Dompe that has really caught the eye. The French midfielder has already registered 8 assists in 10 games, supplying the inevitable forward line. Despite the contrast in form of these sides, Waregem’s poor defensive record should enable Genk to find some joy going forward.

Genk win @ 1.68

Cercle Brugge vs Antwerp

Having picked up just 2 points at home, Cercle Brugge find themselves 17th in the table. With a real lack of goals in the side, it’s difficult to see how the home side can turn things around this season.

The signing of Michael Frey from Fenerbache looks to have been a real stroke of genius. Antwerp matched Club Brugge last time out as they shared the points and the Swiss forward could be a real difference-maker in who ends up becoming Champions this season. The away side are only slight favourites, but we can’t see anything other than an Antwerp victory.

Antwerp win @ 2.45

Anderlecht vs Leuven

Anderlecht will be heavy favourites going into this tie, and for good reason. They have not lost in their previous 7 games, although Komapny’s side have probably drawn a few more games than he would have liked. Attacking trio Joshua Zirkzee, Benito Raman and Cristian Kouame have alternated well and contributed 11 goals between them, whilst Spanish prospect Sergio Gomez has also provided 3 goals and 5 assists from left-back.

Despite not losing in their last 4, Leuven will go into this one as underdogs at odds of X.XX with Bet777.be. The visitors have kept just one clean sheet all season and it looks as if they will struggle against Anderlecht’s multi-faceted attack. We can only see one outcome in this one.

Anderlecht win @ 1.30

Gent vs Saint Gilloise

The final and most enticing match-up of the weekend, Gent have earned their position as favourites going into this game thanks to their strong recent form and impressive 3-0 win away at Genk last time out. They have the best home form in the league and the number of points they have picked up in the last 5 is bettered only by 2 teams; one of which is the visitors.

Saint Gilloise’s strike partnership might be one of the most in-form pairings in European football. With 16 goals and 12 assists between them, one of the pair has been on target in 11 out of their 12 league fixtures thus far in the Jupiler Pro League calendar. Gent rarely lose at home, but the question remains as to whether they can match Saint GIlloise’s strike force.
