Jupiler Pro League Calendar – Matchday 12 Preview

This week’s Jupiler Pro League calendar features some exciting match-ups at the summit of table as front-runners Saint Gilloise travel to 3rd place Eupen and 4th place Antwerp host Champions Club Brugge.

Home wins were the common theme in the last round of fixtures with only 1 away team picking up 3 points, so it’s worth considering the home advantage when making your online bets on the action from this week’s Jupiler Pro League calendar.

Seraing vs Charleroi

Charleroi got back to winning ways last time out with an impressive 2-0 win over Genk. Their 3-5-2 setup proved solid enough to maintain Genk’s dynamic attack and Shamar Nicholson continued his fine start to the season, picking up his 6th goal in 9 games.

Seraing have been much stronger at the Stade du Pairay, picking up 9 of their 12 points at home. And, with French playmaker Youssef Maziz also continuing to impress, it’s hard to right off the home side.

Draw @ 3.60

Cercle Brugge vs Standard Liege

Liege’s poor start to the season continued as they were held by a struggling Leuven side. They are now without a win in 4 and have yet to find a resolution for their lack of goalscoring threat.

Cercle Brugge are also without a win in 4 and have conceded at least 2 in each of those defeats. They have picked up just a single point at home and things won’t get much easier in this encounter of who can be more clinical in front of goal.

Standard Liege win @ 2.75

Kortrijk vs Oostende

This tie will see two of the most in-form players in the league coming face to face. Faiz Selemanie has single-handedly dragged his team over the line at times, with 6 goals and 2 assists thus far.

Makhtar Gueye has continued his hot streak and has now scored in each of  his previous 4 matches of the Jupiler Pro League calendar. Having netted 8 times already, Gueye is responsible for 50% of his side’s goals and it would be no surprise to see the forward on the scoresheet again this weekend. It looks a fairly even match-up on paper.

Draw @ 3.55

KV Mechelen vs Waregem

Mechelen might be the surprise package of the season this far. Although most of the credit will go to their main men Nikola Storm and Hugo Cuypers, the defence has been quietly going about their business to great effect. Mechelen have won their last 4 on the bounce, keeping 3 clean sheets in that time. They have made their stadium a fortress and only 1 team has picked up more points at home.

Waregem have struggled defensively, having conceded the most goals in the league (24). They improved last time out with a 2-1 win over Antwerp, but we can’t see them picking up any points at Mechelen.

Mechelen win @ 1.60

Eupen vs Saint Gilloise

Eupen have the best away record in the league, but at home they have looked less formidable. They face a visit from a USG team which simply can’t stop scoring.

The newly promoted USG find themselves at the summit of the table yet again, leading Club Brugge on goal difference at this point of the Jupiler Pro League calenar. Not only do they have the best defensive record in the league, but they have also netted more than any other team. It is difficult to bet against St. Gilloise and their momentum.

Saint Gilloise win @ 1.90

Antwerp vs Club Brugge

Both have had equally positive starts to the season, but Antwerp slipped up in their last game as they lost 2-1 to a struggling Waregem. They are still however the most in-form team in the league having picked up the most points in the last 5 games.

The Champions have only lost once all season and with their star-studded squad, we can’t see them losing too many more. It will be interesting to see how Antwerp deal with the goalscoring threat of Brugge’s midfielders, but if they can nullify those threats, Michael Frey is almost guaranteed to get on the scoresheet. 4 out of the last 6 meetings between these two at the Bosuilstadion have ended all-square and we think they’ll share the spoils once more.

Draw @ 4.00

Anderlecht vs Beerschot VA

Anderlecht have struggled so far, and will need to start turning draws into victories if they are to challenge at the top. They have drawn their previous 4 fixtures and needed two penalties to secure a point last time out.

Even though Vincent Kompany’s side aren’t in the best form, we still fully expect them to beat this Beerschot side. They are still without a win this season and they have failed to get on the scoresheet in 4 of their last 5 games. They look favourites for relegation and we just can’t see how they can turn their season around.

Anderlecht win @ 1.32

Genk vs Gent

Gent have been an anomaly this season, having picked up just 1 point from 5 games on the road – even fewer than rock bottom Beerschot VA. We don’t think there is enough goals in their frontline to go head to head with this impressive Genk attack.

The home side have stumbled of late, losing 4 of their last 5 in all competitions. Paul Onuachu has not scored in his last 3 outings and Genk will be hoping the Nigerian is back on the scoresheet against a Gent side who have offered nothing on the road this season.

Genk win @ 2.10

Leuven vs Sint Truiden

Sint Truiden have lost just once in their last 6 and have picked up 10 of their 15 points away from home. Goalscoring has been a consistent problem for both clubs.

STVV should have enough quality to see off this struggling Leuven side and their relatively compact defence will prove a tricky task for the home side to break down. We don’t expect there to be too many goals in this one, but we think Sint Truiden will escape with the points.

Sint Truiden win @ 3.00
