Let’s begin…
*All odds are subject to change
Romeo Vermant to score anytime for Club Brugge vs Mechelen @ 2.27
Young Belgian striker Vermant was chosen to start by Nicky Hayen in last weekend’s 2-1 home win over Genk. The centre forward contributed an assist and it is likely he will resume the same role this weekend. Vermant ended last season in superb fashion, tallying six goals in nine Championship Round appearances. With the likes of Christos Tzolis and Hans Vanaken feeding him, Vermant should be eyeing a first goal of the Pro League campaign, especially against a Mechelen side which could only draw 1-1 with newly-promoted Zutle Waregem last weekend.
Standard Liege to beat Dender @ 2.05
It is common knowledge that Standard ended the 2024-25 campaign in woeful fashion. In fact, the side from Liege failed to win any of their 10 play-off matches. But 2025-26 has brought a renewal of hope at one of Belgium’s biggest clubs. Matchday 1 saw Standard collect a 2-0 win at the home of newly-promoted La Louviere, showcasing a high level of defensive quality and fresh impetus in attack. With Dender mustering only a 0-0 vs Cercle Brugge last time out, Standard may very well continue their winning start to 2025-26.
Union Saint-Gilloise to beat Leuven and over 2.5 goals in the match @ 1.93
USG will be disappointed with their start to 2025-26 after a spectacular end to last season which saw them eventually crowned champions of Belgium. Sebastien Pocognoli’s side were held to a 1-1 draw by Royal Antwerp, a performance which will likely have resulted in some harsh words on the training pitch this week. As such, we expect USG to bounce back in style on home soil, with plenty of goals scored. Leuven held Charleroi to a 2-2 draw on Matchday 1, but we cannot see them putting up much resistance in this fixture.
Gent vs La Louviere: Draw @ 3.88
As previously mentioned, La Louviere came unstuck against Standard on Matchday 1, but they should fancy their chances of picking up a positive result this weekend. Gent lost 3-1 to STVV last time out and in 2024-25, their home record was among the worst in the Pro League. Gent won only seven of 20 matches in front of their own fans, so do not be shocked if La Louviere spring something of a surprise on Matchday 2.
