Union Saint-Gilloise’s lead at the top has been cut to just three points following a worrying run of form. The reigning Pro League champions are three matches without a win after last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Charleroi. Club Brugge are closing in fast, so this is about as pressure-filled as a match can be in the Belgian top flight. And while Zulte Waregem are not one of the division’s big hitters, they are masters at achieving a draw, sharing the points in each of the last five games. So while USG’s quality is far greater on paper, we fancy this to finish in another stalemate – which would be Zulte Waregem’s ninth of the campaign!
Club Brugge vs Gent: Anytime goalscorer – Christos Tzolis @ 2.10
Greek forward Tzolis was on fire as Club Brugge crushed Dender 5-1 on Matchday 18. The fleet-footed winger scored twice as his side recorded a huge victory in their hunt of USG. Tzolis is now the joint-top scorer in the Pro League with seven goals overall, and in the betting world, it is always wise to keep a keen eye on a player in form. And to make this selection even more appealing, Tzolis has a marvellous record vs Gent – who have won just one of the last six in the Pro League. The Club Brugge star has four goals in four appearances against Gent, netting back-to-back braces in last season’s Championship Round.
Royal Antwerp to beat Anderlecht @ 2.95
After a dreadful start to the season, Antwerp are slowly climbing the table. With four wins in the last five, they are up to eighth, eliminating any previous thoughts of relegation. Up next is a tricky assignment against Anderlecht, who bounced back from a 4-0 loss at Westerlo with a vital 2-1 win over STVV. But the performance at Westerlo was a stark reminder of Anderlecht’s shortcomings, so wagering on another top home display from Antwerp could be a great move to make.
OH Leuven to beat Cercle Brugge @ 2.56
Our last tip focuses on a battle at the foot of the table. Leuven in 13th host 15th-placed Cercle Brugge, and the former could move up to 11th this weekend if a win is recorded, and other results go their way. Of course, Leuven’s record is pretty poor, while Cercle Brugge have surprisingly recorded more points on their travels this season. But with two wins in the last five, we are still backing Leuven to get the job done here – and make their Christmas even more special!
