Times really are tough in the Cercle Brugge camp right now, with the team languishing in 15th place and on a run of five games without a victory. With rock-bottom Dender putting together a string of positive results, every game is quickly becoming a must-win for Cercle Brugge. But we cannot see them delivering the goods in that regard on Matchday 17, because Mechelen are one of the better-performing sides in the division. In fifth place with two wins in the last three, Mechelen can make a mockery of their pre-match odds!
Dender vs Club Brugge: Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.65
As previously mentioned, Dender are showing signs of life in the Pro League. After a rotten start to the season which had them destined for relegation, survival now looks a real possibility following two wins and two draws in the last four. Dender have scored at least two goals in each of their last five matches, while Club Brugge have failed to keep a clean sheet in the previous five games. The BTTS selection landed when these two sides met at the start of November (2-1 to Club Brugge), and history looks like it will repeat itself at Dender.
Charleroi vs Union Saint-Gilloise: Draw @ 3.58
After a 1-0 loss at Anderlecht followed by a 1-1 home draw with Gent, USG are looking a bit fragile. The reigning champions were also beaten 3-2 by Marseille in the Champions League on Tuesday evening, placing extra emphasis on this fixture. Charleroi are not exactly firing on all cylinders, sitting 12th in the table and suffering three defeats in the last five. But we still fancy them to further disrupt USG’s title defence, and perhaps open the door even more to STVV and Club Brugge.
