Club Brugge vs Westerlo Preview
Last week was a very good one for Club Brugge after a slow start to the campaign.
Nicky Hayen’s side thrashed AS Monaco 4-1 at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Matchday 1 of the Champions League, before beating STVV 2-0 on Sunday to close the gap at the top of the Pro League table.
Club Brugge now trail STVV by just a single point and if they win this game in hand vs Westerlo, second spot behind Union Saint-Gilloise is theirs.
And this is a match the side from Bruges should be very confident of winning, as Westerlo have been inconsistent at best this season.
After impressive wins over Royal Antwerp (2-0) and STVV (0-3), Westerlo suffered a shock 2-0 home defeat vs struggling Standard Liege last Sunday. They were also thrashed 4-1 by Club Brugge’s local rivals Cercle back in August.
So if Club Brugge deliver anything like the performances we saw against Monaco and STVV, Hayen’s men should stroll to victory.
Last season, Club Brugge won both Pro League matches against Westerlo, though the fixture at the Jan Breydel Stadium was a closely-fought battle.
The hosts eventually won 4-3 thanks to a 94th-minute strike from Hugo Siquet, and we would certainly love for this match to be as entertaining as its predecessor!

Club Brugge vs Westerlo Betting Tips
Both teams to score – No @ 2.28
Club Brugge have kept clean sheets in two of their last three matches across all competitions. And Westerlo’s failure to score against a Standard side flirting with the relegation places was pretty damning for their attack. So there could be value to be had in the BTTS market!
Anytime goalscorer – Hans Vanaken @ 2.58
A stalwart in the Club Brugge XI, Vanaken was on target in the 4-1 win over Monaco. The 33-year-old also has two goals in the Pro League this season, following on from 10 in the 2024-25 campaign.
