Kortrijk vs Cercle Brugge
We’re kicking things off at the Guldensporen Stadion where bottom-of-the-table Kortrijk host Cercle Brugge. Kortrijk have endured a dreadful start to their campaign, losing six of their opening eight matches without getting a win on the board. What will be most concerning is the 1-0 defeat against Charleroi on matchday 8, with that game looking like a big loss against a relegation rival.
Cercle Brugge will be looking up the table rather than down after winning four of their first eight games. They have suffered back-to-back defeats against RWDM and Union Saint-Gilloise, but we’re backing them to get back to winning ways against a lifeless Kortrijk side. The visitors will take huge confidence from the early-season form of striker Ahoueke Denkey. The Togan has netted five in eight and could well be on the scoresheet once more this weekend against a Kortrijk team that have already conceded 20 goals.
Cercle Brugge to win – 1.70
Eupen vs Anderlecht
We’re over at Kehrwegstadion for the second pick as Eupen take on Anderlecht. The hosts started the Jupiler Pro League campaign well, winning three of their opening five, but have since fallen to three successive defeats. With 15 goals conceded in eight matches, their defence is among the worst in the division, which doesn’t bode well as they prepare for an in-form Anderlecht team.
Anderlecht are still undefeated since their opening-day loss against St. Gilloise, winning four and drawing three since. They have had a tricky run of fixtures but will take some confidence from their 1-1 draw with Club Brugge last time out. New signing Kasper Dolberg was on the scoresheet once again, taking his tally to four for the season, and he will be key if Anderlecht are to continue in this rich vein of form. They have won four consecutive games against Eupen, and given their current form, we’re expecting them to make it five on matchday 9.
Anderlecht to win – 1.73
Leuven vs Standard Liege
The pair are separated by just two points toward the bottom of the Jupiler Pro League rankings. St. Liege are struggling to put points on the board with just one win in eight, although they have drawn three of their previous four. Once again, they have been defensively sound, conceding just seven, but are struggling to score goals themselves.
The same can’t be said for Leuven. They are one of the more free-scoring teams in the division with 11 goals scored but have also leaked 14 goals at the opposite end of the pitch. However, they come into this tie off of the back of three strong performances, including victories over Kortrijk and KV Mechelen, and a draw against Gent.
