Westerlo vs Antwerp
We’re kicking things off on Friday night when champions Antwerp take on Westerlo. The visitors have had a fairly successful start to the season, losing just once in the league against Anderlecht, while also qualifying for the Champions League. They will be hoping to climb the Jupiler Pro League table this weekend against 15th-placed Westerlo.
The hosts have picked up just one point from six games, losing five successive fixures since the opening weekend. This does include tough games against Club Brugge, Gent, and Anderlecht, but also features losses against KV Mechelen and Cercle Brugge. They were a breath of fresh air last season, scoring goals for fun. However, if they don’t tighten up defensively, they will find themselves struggling in the relegation group come the end of the season.
Antwerp to win – 1.63
Kortrijk vs Anderlecht
Anderlecht continue to impress, with a 1-1 draw away at Genk extending their Jupiler Pro League unbeaten run to five matches. They currently sit second in the division having won four of their six games, and although they haven’t been blowing teams away, they have consistently found a way to put points on the board.
Bottom-of-the-table Kortrijk are this weekend’s opposition. They have lost five of their opening six games, conceding 17 in the process, more than any team in the league. This includes letting in three goals against Gent, Eupen, and Leuven, while also shipping six against Antwerp. It’s going to be a long season for Kotrijk.
Anderlecht to win – 1.67
Leuven vs Gent
Gent are going from strength to strength. As well as being undefeated at sitting top of the Jupiler Pro League after five games, they have also secured qualification to the Conference League. They are brimming with confidence, and that is reflected in their performances. Although they only had 40% possession in their last game against Club Brugge, some clinical finishing from Hyun-Seok Hong saw them claim all three points in a 2-1 win.
Leuven are their latest challenge. The hosts picked up their first win of the season on matchday 6, beating Kortrijk 3-0. However, you can’t read too much into that result, as Kortrijk have been poor and are nailed to the bottom of the league. Leuven have conceded 12 already, making them the third worst defence in the division, something which Gent’s lethal attack are sure to capitalise on.
Gent to win – 1.76
