Belgium continue their preparation for the 2026 World Cup with another friendly against one of the host nations for the tournament.
Mexico are up next for Rudi Garcia’s side, who claimed an impressive 5-2 victory against the United States of America last Saturday.
This is not Belgium’s final match before the World Cup group stage kicks off, with friendlies against Croatia and Tunisia booked in for early June.
Nevertheless, it is still a fixture of huge significance – and one we are really looking forward to!

Mexico vs Belgium Preview
Belgium’s win against the USA was made all the more impressive by the fact that some key attacking players were missing.
Record scorer Romelu Lukaku, Leandro Trossard and Hans Vanaken were all unavailable, but the Red Devils still managed to display some serious attacking swagger.
Zeno Debast, Amadou Onana and Charles De Ketelaere were all on the scoresheet, before a late brace from Sevilla striker Dodi Lukebakio.
Kevin De Bruyne also featured in the No10 role after recovering from a serious thigh injury, and the Napoli star’s return is massive for Belgium ahead of the World Cup.
Mexico managed a credible 0-0 draw with Portugal in their previous outing, a result which followed three successive wins over Panama (0-1), Bolivia (0-1) and Iceland (4-0).
Javier Aguirre’s side are certainly not a team to be underestimated, evidenced by their 2-1 CONCACAF Gold Cup final over the USA back in July.
However, Mexico have also suffered some worrying home defeats in recent times. Back in October they were on the end of a 4-0 loss to Colombia, before a 2-1 defeat vs Paraguay the following month.
But this is a fixture in which Mexico have the upperhand historically, with three wins compared to Belgium’s two – though those victories came between 1969 and 1986.
The most recent meeting in November 2017 was a thrilling 3-3 draw in Brussels!

Mexico vs Belgium Betting Tips
Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.73
While this selection has not landed in Mexico’s previous four matches, we fancy things to change when Belgium come to town. Twenty-two goals were scored in the Red Devils’ previous four matches – and in the three away matches, this bet came in!
Total goals – Over 2.5 @ 1.92
As mentioned above, matches involving Belgium have been goal-filled in recent times, so at close to evens, this selection could represent exceptional value. Over 2.5 goals were scored in three of the Red Devils’ previous four matches.
