Schalke vs Bayer Leverkusen
Xabi Alonso has done a brilliant job thus far at Leverkusen, with his side making a late charge for European football. Their 2-1 win over Bayern prior to the international break was a fifth successive victory in all competitions and left them just three points adrift of the top six.
Having lost just once in seven away matches in 2023, Leverkusen will be favourites to continue their fine form. Schalke hold the worst home record in the Bundesliga despite being on an impressive unbeaten run. We expect that to come to an end this weekend when Alonso’s in-form Leverkusen roll into town.

Angers vs Nice
Second in our football predictions is Nice, who travel to face bottom-of-the-league Angers this weekend. Angers are as good as relegated having won just 10 points in 28 Ligue 1 matches – they would need to mount the best comeback of all time to claw back the 14-point gap to safety in the remaining 10 matches.
Nice are on a 13-match unbeaten run in all competitions. A strike partnership of Terem Moffi and Gaetan Laborde has been crucial in Nice’s hunt for Europe – the pair have netted 25 goals between them in the league this campaign. They shouldn’t have too much trouble on the road against an Angers side that are already down and out.

Napoli vs AC Milan
It’s a huge clash in Italy this weekend as the 2022/23 probable champions take on the reigning champions. Napoli are 19 points clear at the summit of Serie A while AC Milan continue to fight for a place in Europe’s elite competition for next season. These two are set to meet in the Champions League quarter-final in a fortnight, with the outcome of this tie potentially pivotal in building and denting confidence.
Napoli have won 10 of their last 11 matches and boast the best home record in the division. In contrast, Milan have been victorious in only two of their previous 10 away games. We’re siding with the hosts in our football predictions.

Atletico Madrid vs Real Betis
Atletico are one of the most in-form teams in Europe and are quietly going about their business, closing the gap on second-place Real Madrid. They are undefeated in eight, winning six of those, and have kept five clean sheets in that time.
Real Betis have been the surprise package in La Liga this season but they might just fall short at the Metropolitano. They have scored the fewest and conceded the most goals in the top five, which doesn’t bode well when you factor in the incredible recent defensive record of Diego Simeone’s side. A close one to call, but we’re siding with Madrid in our football predictions.
