Leverkusen vs Hoffenheim

Leverkusen have endured a torrid start to the season, but our football prediction is that they’ll finally get going this weekend. Although it appears that Hoffenheim have had the better opening to the 2022/23 campaign, it’s been far from impressive. They were beaten comfortably in their first outing and needed an 88th minute winner to beat Bochum last time out.

These two sides will be competing around the European places come the end of the season, but ultimately Leverkusen look to have a squad better equipped to challenging for the top four. They might currently sit rock bottom of the Bundesliga, but it won’t be for long.

Leverkusen win – 1.71

Clermont vs Nice

Nice are another of those teams that have started slowly, but that we’re backing in our football predictions to kickstart their campaign this weekend. Clermont narrowly avoided relegation last season, and they will most likely be fighting towards the bottom once more this year.

In contrast, Nice will be vying for a Champions League spot, but they’ll need to improve their form soon. On a positive note, the visitors have managed to keep some of their key talents including Andy Delort, Amine Gouiri and Jean-Clair Todibo, as well as adding the experience of Aaron Ramsey and Kasper Schmeichel. They will be expected to pick up their first victory of the season in Clermont this weekend.

Nice win – 2.05

Real Sociedad vs Barcelona

Barcelona were held to a drab 0-0 draw in their first game against Rayo Vallecano, despite registering 67% possession and 21 shots at goal. They were unable to break the deadlock even with the likes of Ousmane Dembele, Raphinha and Robert Lewandowski in their attack. Xavi will have to fix any issues quickly – he simply can’t afford to let Real Madrid run away with another title, or he might find his job at risk.

Fortunately for Barcelona fans, they have enjoyed plenty of success in this fixture over the years. They have won 12 of their last 15 meetings with Real Sociedad, stretching back around six years to their last defeat against this weekend’s opponent. Our football prediction is that Barca get back to winning ways in San Sebastian.

Barcelona win – 2.15

Sampdoria vs Juventus

Juventus will look to kick on after their impressive opening day win over Sassuolo. Summer signing Angel Di Maria was on target in his debut and Dusan Vlahovic netted a brace, starting his season as he means to go. Our football prediction is that the Old Lady will be back competing for the title this season, with a trip to Sampdoria not likely to cause them too many issues.

The hosts lost 2-0 at home to Atalanta in their first outing and we can’t see them being able to contain the visitors’ newly formed, dynamic front line. Expect a dominant and comfortable victory for Italy’s most decorated club.

Juventus win – 1.64
