Europa League Odds
*All odds are subject to change
The match result market is tilted in Bilbao’s favour, with a win for the La Liga side priced at 1.97. A United victory is at odds of 3.87, while the draw is 3.28.
And Tottenham are massive favourites to claim a first-leg win at 1.29. Bodo/Glimt sit at 8.70 in this market, while a draw in North London is priced at 5.60.
Athletic Bilbao vs Manchester United – Best Bets
Draw at half-time, Athletic Bilbao win at full-time @ 4.33
The first half of a Europa League semi-final is usually when teams are at their most cautious. Combine that with United’s struggles in attack and Bilbao’s formidable defensive home record (just 10 goals conceded in 17 La Liga matches), it could well be a stalemate when the referee blows his whistle to signal the interval. But the fact Bilbao have won all their European home matches this season leads us to believe that they will deliver the first major blow of the tie in the second half.
First half total goals – Under 0.5 @ 2.60
It took Bilbao until the fourth-minute of first-half stoppage time to score in their 2-0 home win over Rangers in the last round. Now, while that would count as a first-half goal, it is perhaps a sign that this market is well worth looking at for United’s visit to San Mames, especially given the odds.
Tottenham vs Bodo/Glimt – Best Bets
Player to score or assist – Pedro Porro @ 3.25
With Bodo/Glimt struggling with injuries and suspensions, we expect Tottenham to dominate this match from start to finish. And the likelihood of them having the majority of the ball only serves to enhance Porro’s threat in the final third. The Spaniard is as attacking as they come in terms of full-backs and scored Spurs’ goal in the 1-1 home draw with Eintracht Frankfurt. Porro has six assists in the Premier League this season, so this selection could be a calculated risk worth taking.
Player will score and his team will win – Dominic Solanke @ 2.25
Solanke’s first season in a Spurs shirt has had its ups and downs, but he appears to be hitting a run of form at the perfect time. The England international held his nerve in Frankfurt to score the penalty which sealed a 1-0 win and qualification for the semi-finals. Solanke was on target again vs Liverpool on the weekend, albeit in a 5-1 defeat. But this really does look like a great way to boost the odds on a win for the hosts.
