Croky Cup 2025/26: Union Saint-Gilloise vs Charleroi Preview

The Croky Cup semi-finals conclude this week – and it is still all to play for in both ties.

Belgian champions Union Saint-Gilloise and Charleroi lock horns on Wednesday evening with the scores level at 0-0.

It was an absorbing first leg, but with neither side able to make a breakthrough, you have to make USG the favourites to reach the final with home advantage in the second leg.

Here is our full sports betting preview for Union Saint-Gilloise vs Charleroi, complete with our picks for the match based on the latest offering of football odds.

Union Saint-Gilloise vs Charleroi Preview

After the 0-0 draw at Charleroi, USG returned to winning ways on Matchday 24 of the Pro League season.

David Hubert’s side beat La Louviere 2-1 at home thanks to goals from Rob Schoofs and Guilherme Smith.

USG sit four points clear at the top of the Pro League, and a place in the Croky Cup final would be huge after their Champions League elimination.

Charleroi were involved in the most exciting contest of Matchday 24, although it ended with them losing 4-3 at home to Cercle Brugge.

Amazingly, Charleroi had 73% of the possession and registered 24 shots on goal (10 of them on target) but yet still came away with a defeat.

It also brought an end to a run of five consecutive clean sheets across all competitions, and what a dramatic end it was!

The defensive frailties on show from Charleroi will surely pique the interest of USG’s attackers, even if goals have not come frequently since the conclusion of the winter break.

USG hosted Charleroi in the Pro League back in October and recorded an impressive 3-1 victory, with the talented Raul Florucz opening the scoring that day.

USG are the pre-match favourites here at a price of 1.54. A victory for Charleroi is at 6.40, while the draw after 90 minutes is 4.15.

Union Saint-Gilloise vs Charleroi Betting Tips

Total goals – Under 2.5 @ 2.00

Interestingly, USG’s victory over La Louviere on the weekend was their only match in the last 11 to feature over 2.5 goals scored. And Charleroi’s epic defeat to Cercle Brugge ended a run of five consecutive matches with under 2.5 goals scored. So even though things changed on the weekend, this market could be the route to go down – especially with the added tension of a major cup semi-final.

Both teams to score – No @ 1.89

Another selection reliant on few goals being scored in the match. Prior to the win against La Louviere, USG had not been part of a game with both teams on the scoresheet since Boxing Day, when they drew 1-1 with Cercle Brugge. And Charleroi were the only team to score in their five matches before the surprise loss to Cercle, so this could make for another profitable pick.
