After their big win at Anderlecht, Antwerp could not deliver again in the Jupiler Pro League on the weekend, slipping to a 2-0 defeat at Mechelen.
It was a damaging blow to their aspirations of finishing in the Championship Round places, as they now sit as low as 10th in the table.
Antwerp did beat Cercle Brugge 4-0 away from home on Matchday 23 of the season, but their previous home match was a 2-0 loss to Charleroi.

Amazingly, Anderlecht have also failed to score in each of the last four games, with a 0-0 home draw vs Dender on Matchday 22 followed by a 2-0 loss at Standard Liege.
Besnik Hasi’s dismissal as manager has not helped improve matters, but the Mauves are still fourth in the Pro League table – and a place in the Championship Round is in their hands.
Furthermore, new interim boss Jeremy Taravel has a huge opportunity here to begin repairing confidence, and a big win in Antwerp which secures a spot in the Croky Cup final could prove to be a season-changing result.
