Champions League 2025/26: Real Madrid vs Manchester City Preview

Real Madrid vs Manchester City, a fixture which has dominated the Champions League narrative in recent years.

Every season, we seem to get another edition of this clash – and tomorrow’s meeting is already the second of the 2025-26 campaign!

But who are we to complain? After all, it is two of Europe’s best going head-to-head for a spot in the quarter-finals, and these matches rarely – if ever – disappoint.

So check out our full preview for the latest instalment of Real Madrid vs Manchester City, and we have picked out some online betting tips based on the Champions League odds available.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Preview

Real Madrid beat Benfica 3-1 on aggregate in the play-offs to secure another date with Man City in the Champions League knockouts.

Interestingly, these two teams met in last season’s play-offs, with Los Blancos winning that tie 6-3 thanks to a brace from Kylian Mbappe at the Bernabeu.

But sadly for Real Madrid and interim manager Alvaro Arbeloa, Mbappe looks set to miss this match – and perhaps the whole tie – with a niggling knee injury.

Mbappe has 38 goals in 33 matches across all competitions this season, including 13 in eight Champions League games. So his absence is an enormous blow, with Jude Bellingham and Rodrygo Goes also out through injury.

As such, more pressure than ever is on the shoulders of Vinicius Junior, with the Brazilian and his team-mates picking up a crucial 2-1 win at Celta Vigo on the weekend following successive La Liga losses vs Osasuna (2-1) and Getafe (0-1).

Man City have all their big hitters available, including top scorer Erling Haaland, and arrive in Madrid on the back of a 3-1 victory at Newcastle in the FA Cup fifth round.

However, Pep Guardiola’s men suffered a setback in the Premier League last Wednesday, drawing 2-2 with Nottingham Forest at the Etihad and surrendering more ground to Arsenal.

But City had won the four top-flight matches prior to the draw with Forest, a run which includes impressive away triumphs vs Liverpool (1-2) and Leeds (0-1).

And lest we forget, the Citizens won 2-1 at the Bernabeu back in December, with goals from Nico O’Reilly and Haaland securing the crucial League Phase success.

Real Madrid vs Manchester City Betting Tips

Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.54

This selection has landed in each of the last five meetings between Real Madrid and Man City – and we do not see things changing on Wednesday evening. Each team is stronger in attack than in defence (even with Real’s injuries), so expect more goals at the Bernabeu.

Anytime goalscorer – Vinicius Junior @ 3.20

Haaland, Antoine Semenyo and Omar Marmoush all caught our eye in the goalscorer market, but it is Vinicius we are opting for. The Brazilian has netted in three of his last four Champions League appearances, as well as scoring three times in the previous four La Liga games. With solid odds on offer, and Vinicius renowned as a big-game player who thrives under additional pressure, this could make for a pretty valuable pre-match pick.
