Champions League 2025/26: Paris Saint-Germain vs Atalanta Preview

Paris Saint-Germain begin the defence of their maiden Champions League crown with a home League Phase match against Atalanta later this evening.

Luis Enrique’s side are in the midst of a mini injury crisis, while Atalanta have entered a new era, now under the management of Ivan Juric.

It sets us up perfectly for an intriguing European clash at the famous Parc des Princes, and below we have previewed the match in full, with bet tips and the latest odds to help with your Champions League football bets.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Atalanta Preview

After losing 3-0 to Chelsea in the Club World Cup final, PSG have started the new Ligue 1 season in typically dominant fashion.

Victories over Nantes, Angers, Toulouse and – most recently – Lens mean the Parisians sit in their usual spot at the top of the table with 10 goals scored and only three conceded.

However, Enrique is set to be without his first-choice front three vs Atalanta. Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue will be absent for a while with muscle injuries, while Khvicha Kvaratskhelia had to be subbed off vs Lens with a knock to his calf.

So it means Bradely Barcola, who scored both goals in the 2-0 win against Lens, will be the main man in attack, supported by Portuguese striker Goncalo Ramos.

Of course, Enrique can still call upon his world-class midfield trio of Vitinha, Joao Neves and Fabian Ruiz, as well as flying full-backs Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes.

As for Atalanta, they finally got their Serie A campaign up and running on the weekend with a convincing 4-1 win over Lecce.

Before that, Juric’s side had drawn 1-1 with Pisa and Parma, so it was imperative a victory was achieved prior to a trip to Paris.

But the big story in the Atalanta camp is the ongoing absence of star attacker Ademola Lookman, who is currently in footballing exile after trying to force a summer move to Inter Milan.

It appears there is no way back for Lookman under Juric’s rule, so the onus is on Belgian playmaker Charles De Ketelaere – who scored twice in the win over Lecce – to be the team’s talisman moving forward.

Paris Saint-Germain vs Atalanta Odds

Paris Saint-Germain vs Atalanta Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Bradley Barcola @ 1.73

Barcola already has three goals in Ligue 1 this season and will be the main man in attack vs Atalanta, with so many of his team-mates out injured. Last term, he registered 21 goals and 21 assists across all competitions.

Bradley Barcola to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 2.38

And if you want to increase your odds on a Barcola-themed selection, this could be the one for you. The France international loves taking shots at goal, evidenced by the fact he registered 37 shots on target in Ligue 1 last season – the joint-fourth highest total in the division.

Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.74

Even though PSG are yet to concede a goal at home in 2025-26, we still like the look of this selection. Atalanta scored in all three Serie A matches, and boast some potent attacking weapons, with De Ketelaere supported by the likes of Nikola Krstovic, Kamaldeen Sulemana and Lazar Samardzic.
