Champions League 2025/26 – Matchday 2 Betting Tips

The Champions League is back, and Matchday 2 of the season is packed full of exciting fixtures.

Jupiler Pro League representatives Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge are back in action, while Barcelona vs Paris Saint-Germain is arguably the headline act of the round.

European football is the order of the week, so here are some more online sports betting tips for you to mull over, part of the way in which we help you craft your football bets.

Pafos vs Bayern Munich: Anytime goalscorer – Harry Kane @ 1.47

Kane is in scarily good form right now, with his brace in last Friday’s 4-0 Bundesliga win over Werder Bremen seeing him bring up 100 goals in a Bayern shirt from just 104 games – the quickest a player has reached the landmark for a club in the 21st century. The England captain scored twice in the 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Matchday 1 of this competition, while his overall record for the campaign at this early stage reads 15 goals from eight appearances. Pafos showed grit and determination to achieve a 0-0 draw at Olympiacos two weeks ago, but stopping in-form Kane is a different matter entirely. The odds are not the best, but this bet looks close to a sure-fire winner.

Chelsea vs Benfica: Under 2.5 goals @ 2.15

Now in charge of Benfica, Jose Mourinho returns to Stamford Bridge this week, a place where he achieved plenty of success in his two spells as manager. And this match is big for the Blues after last weekend’s shock 3-1 loss to Brighton in the Premier League, which followed a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford. Enzo Maresca is without the services of Cole Palmer due to injury, with the rest of the attackers so far failing to step up in his absence. That will be music to the ears of Mourinho, who will know his pragmatism can frustrate the hosts in this fixture. With that in mind, we are opting for a low-scoring affair in West London, perhaps the polar opposite of their meeting at the Club World Cup – which finished 4-1 to Chelsea after extra-time. Mourinho will know he cannot afford a repeat outcome.

Villarreal to beat Juventus @ 2.21

Villarreal responded brilliantly to a 1-0 loss vs Tottenham on Matchday 1, recording three consecutive wins in La Liga against Osasuna, Sevilla and Athletic Bilbao. The Yellow Submarine have also won all four home matches this season, which will be of concern to Juve. The Bianconeri enter this fixture after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Atalanta, meaning they are now three games without a win across all competitions. The 4-4 draw with Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago highlighted the positives and negatives of Igor Tudor’s squad, with defensive struggles salvaged by attacking brilliance from the likes of Kenan Yildiz. This should be a sensational match, one which we think the hosts will just edge.

AS Monaco vs Manchester City: Anytime goalscorer – Erling Haaland @ 1.69

He has not quite recorded Kane-like numbers this season, but Haaland is still in superb form. His brace in the 5-1 win over Burnley on the weekend took the City striker to nine goals across all competitions, including the opener in the 2-0 win over Napoli. And Monaco’s defensive frailties of late look tailor-made for Haaland. The Ligue 1 side lost 4-1 to Club Brugge on Matchday 1 and were beaten 3-1 at Lorient last Saturday. Monaco are yet to keep a clean sheet this season, which is far from ideal before facing one of the world’s very best goalscorers.
