Champions League 2025/26: Club Brugge vs AS Monaco Preview

Jupiler Pro League representatives Club Brugge begin their Champions League campaign with a home match against AS Monaco.

Last season, Nicky Hayen’s side reached the Round of 16, but were eventually dumped out by Premier League outfit Aston Villa.

Read on for our full sports betting online preview of this League Phase fixture, complete with tips and Champions League odds for your midweek football bets.

Club Brugge vs AS Monaco Preview

Club Brugge beat Rangers 9-1 on aggregate in the play-offs to qualify for the League Phase, but their form in the Pro League has been rather concerning.

Hayen’s men lost 1-0 at newly-promoted La Louviere on the weekend, a result which followed a disappointing 1-1 draw at Gent.

Club Brugge sit fifth in the Pro League as a result, only managing to score seven goals in the first six matches – which is unlike a team of their stature.

Monaco have started the Ligue 1 season in better fashion, tallying three wins from four matches – their only loss coming against Lille on Matchday 2.

Adi Hutter’s team defeated Auxerre 2-1 away from home on the weekend, having beaten Strasbourg 3-2 just before the September international break.

Young attacking midfielder Maghnes Akliouche has been the star performer for Monaco thus far with two goals and one assist in Ligue 1 action.

Stopping him will be high on the list of Club Brugge’s priorities, though the Belgian side boast attacking weapons of their own in Christos Tzolis, Hans Vanaken and Romeo Vermant.

Given their struggles away from home in the Pro League of late, we expect Hayen’s side to come out firing at the Jan Breydel Stadium tonight, looking to rediscover the form that made them such a tricky Champions League opponent in 2024-25.

Club Brugge vs AS Monaco Betting Tips

Player to score or assist – Christos Tzolis @ 2.05

Tzolis was prolific in Club Brugge’s Champions League Qualifying campaign, with a goal and four assists in just four appearances. Can the Greek star deliver once again under the bright lights?

Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.51

Each of these teams likes to play an expansive style of football when given the chance, so there is reason to believe that this could be a high-scoring affair, with both sides on the scoresheet.

AS Monaco to win and both teams to score @ 3.90

Following on from the tip above, this BTTS market could be a great source of value. Monaco are in better form, and they also conceded at least once in their three Ligue 1 victories this season.
