Morocco bounced back from a surprise 1-1 draw with Mali to beat Zambia 3-0 in their final group match.
The Atlas Lions defeated Comoros 2-0 on Matchday 1 of the competition, and we expect them to hit a far higher level in the knockout stage.
Morocco are a team who rarely suffer defeats, and lest we forget, they reached the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup!
As for Tanzania, the group stage was a far tougher affair. In fact, they did not record a single victory, but still managed to secure qualification to the last 16 thanks to being one of the best third-placed teams.
However, Tanzania did show their ability to compete with the finest teams in Africa, suffering only a 2-1 loss to Nigeria before drawing 1-1 with Tunisia – a side tipped as one of the trophy favourites before kick-off.
Tanzania also managed a credible 1-1 draw with Uganda on Matchday 2, so there is scope to believe that they can make this a real contest.
That being said, if Morocco find the back of the net early on home soil, things could turn ugly at a rapid pace for the opposition.
Morocco have won each of the last four matches against Tanzania, keeping clean sheets in all of those games and scoring eight goals.
