Indiana Pacers vs Miami Heat
Miami look a very well-rounded team this year and one of the outside shots to go deep into the play-offs. Bam Adebayo is on the top of his game, dominating the paint from his basketball position at centre, whilst Kyle Lowry, Tyler Herro and Jimmy Butler are all contributing with points. The Pacers have put in some standout performances, more often than not due to the good work of Domantas Sabonis, but they have fallen short on too many occasions.
Prediction: Miami Heat
Brooklyn Nets vs Minnesota Timberwolves
The Nets were beaten by a resurgent Suns team last time out, but not for want of trying. Kevin Durant put up 39 points from his basketball position at forward, whilst James Harden also registered a triple-double. Brooklyn have only lost games against some of the strongest teams in the NBA, and although Minnesota have put together a good run thanks to Karl-Anthony Towns, we don’t think the Timberwolves will be able to keep up with the Nets’ dynamic offense.
Prediction: Brooklyn Nets
Utah Jazz vs Boston Celtics
This is one of the most exciting match-ups of the weekend, with both teams having standout stars. Despite the Celtics’ star-studded roster, they have underperformed thus far this season and will struggle against the dominance of Rudy Gobert. The Frenchman has been an all-star in his basketball position in previous years and is set to register another impressive season aided by the ruthless point scoring of Donovan Mitchell. We think the Jazz will come out on top.
Prediction: Utah Jazz
LA Lakers vs LA Clippers
This fixture tends to be one of the most highly anticipated on the schedule, but the indefinite sidelining of Kawhi Leonard has resulted in this potentially becoming a one-sided affair. The Clippers have struggled for consistency in his absence, with Paul George having to carry the star-man’s load, and they will face a Lakers side that can beat anyone on their day. Lebron James has top-scored in all 3 games since his return and is showing no signs of slowing up. Together with Russel Westbrook by his side and Anthony Davis in the paint, the Lakers will be too much for their neighbours.
Prediction: LA Lakers
Dallas Mavericks vs Memphis Grizzlies
Since bursting onto the scene in his debut season in the NBA, Slovenian talent Luka Doncic has quickly emerged as a fan favourite in his basketball position point-guard. Although the Mavs have not been in particularly good form and have only won once in their last 6, they are always capable of turning the corner thanks to Doncic. We think they will be good enough to beat an inconsistent Grizzlies side that have failed to put together more than 2 wins in a row this season.
Prediction: Dallas Mavericks
Golden State Warriors vs San Antonio Spurs
This is not a good match up for San Antonio, who have struggled to keep up with the big scorers this season. They will travel to face a Warriors side who have won 18 of 20 games this season and are emerging as early favourites to win back their NBA Championship title led by Steph Curry. Curry has put up 30+ point games with unnerving regularity this season and we don’t see a way in which the Spurs, or anyone can stop him.
Prediction: Golden State Warriors
