The Champions League returns this week to take centre stage in the footballing world.
After a thrilling play-off round, in which Jupiler Pro League side Club Brugge bowed out with dignity, it is now time for the Last 16.
Six Premier League teams are part of the knockout roster, as well as the usual faces in Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and holders Paris Saint-Germain.
It all promises to be sporting entertainment of the highest order, and here are some sports betting online picks for the upcoming European games, all based on the latest available Champions League odds.
*All odds are subject to change
Atalanta vs Bayern Munich: Anytime goalscorer – Luis Diaz @ 2.60
Harry Kane is a slight injury doubt for this game, though this presents the opportunity to discover more value in a Bayern goalscorer. Diaz was on target in the 4-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach on the weekend, while the Colombian ace has 20 goals in 35 appearances across all competitions this season. And two of his three strikes in this season’s Champions League were scored on the road, so we are backing him to deliver again in Bergamo.
Atletico Madrid vs Tottenham: Anytime goalscorer – Alexander Sorloth @ 1.99
Another goalscorer pick, though this one feels even more secure than the Diaz selection. Spurs are in a woeful state ahead of kick-off in Madrid, without a Premier League win in 2026 and staring down the barrel of relegation. And Sorloth is in tremendous form, having scored the opener in the weekend victory over Real Sociedad. The Norwegian colossus also bagged a hat-trick in the 4-1 home win over Club Brugge – which secured Atletico’s spot in this round – and Spurs’ leaky defence may be powerless in their attempts to stop him.
Arsenal to beat Bayer Leverkusen @ 1.58
Tournament favourites Arsenal travel to play a Leverkusen side struggling for form. The Bundesliga outfit have managed only one win in the last five matches across all competitions, failing to claim the victory at home vs both Olympiacos (0-0) and Mainz (1-1). Arsenal have won each of the last four, and are unbeaten on the road in all competitions since the 2-1 loss at Aston Villa in early December. So we expect the Gunners to collect a routine victory here, with their previous away game in the Champions League seeing Mikel Arteta’s men win 3-1 at Inter Milan.
Paris Saint-Germain vs Chelsea: Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.56
This is perhaps the standout tie of the round – and we expect goals at the Parc des Princes! In the previous five Champions League games at PSG’s home, 21 of them were scored, with this BTTS selection landing in all but one of them. Against English teams in Paris, Luis Enrique’s men beat Tottenham 5-3 and then drew 1-1 with Newcastle. As for Chelsea, they have netted in every single European match this season, most recently claiming a 3-2 success at Napoli. So this looks like being yet another game in which the attacks are firmly on top.
