Club Brugge await the arrival of Barcelona this evening, an enormous clash and test for the Jupiler Pro League giants on Matchday 4.
Taking on the might of Barca, it does not get much better than that in the Champions League!
We have previewed Club Brugge’s latest European adventure, picking out some handy bet tips which you can use for your midweek football bets online.
Club Brugge vs Barcelona Preview
This is the second Champions League match in a row against a formidable opponent for Club Brugge after the 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich on Matchday 3.
It was the second straight defeat for Nicky Hayen’s men in Europe following a 2-1 loss at Atalanta, though the Jupiler Pro League side did beat AS Monaco 4-1 at home on Matchday 1.
Club Brugge are also on a run of five consecutive top-flight wins, which should serve them well ahead of this tricky tie.
As for Barca, their last outing in the Champions League was certainly one to remember thanks to a 6-1 thrashing of Olympiacos in Catalonia.
It was the perfect response to the 2-1 home loss vs Paris Saint-Germain on Matchday 2, and Barca also won their previous away outing in this competition, beating Newcastle 2-1 thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford.
But domestically, things have not been great for Barca of late, with two defeats to Real Madrid (2-1) and Sevilla (4-1) in the last four La Liga outings.
The wins over Girona (2-1) and – most recently – Elche (3-1) were not entirely convincing either, so there should be cautious optimism within the Club Brugge camp as a result.
Even more so when you remember that key Barca players Raphinha and Pedri will miss the match through injury!
Club Brugge vs Barcelona Odds
*All odds are subject to change
But Club Brugge are still significant underdogs on home soil at a price of 5.50. Barcelona are at short odds of 1.47 to claim the victory in Belgium, while the draw is 5.20.
Club Brugge vs Barcelona Betting Tips
Anytime goalscorer – Lamine Yamal @ 2.05
It has been a tough start to the season for Yamal, with a niggling groin injury limiting his playing time. But the teenage forward was back among the goals on the weekend, netting the crucial opener vs Elche. Yamal also struck from the penalty spot in the win over Olympiacos, so we are backing him to deliver again in Bruges.
Both teams to score – Yes @ 1.43
Barca have failed to keep a single clean sheet in the last eight matches across all competitions, with Hansi Flick’s high line offering up opportunities to opposing forwards. And the likes of Christos Tzolis and Carlos Forbs should convert at least one of the chances presented to them. We would not be shocked at all if this was a high-scoring contest.
Marcus Rashford to have over 1.5 shots on target @ 1.83
Rashford’s renaissance in Spain is something to be commended, with the Englishman scoring four goals in Champions League action. With Raphinha still out injured, even more attacking responsibility falls at Rashford’s feet, which we think he will deal with. He is also pretty accurate from free-kick situations, and that only enhances the likelihood of him tallying multiple shots on target.
