Standard Liege to beat Royal Antwerp @ 2.22
The Friday night fixtures sees two struggling giants battle it out in Liege. Antwerp were part of last season’s Championship Round, but now find themselves 13th in the Pro League table with only two wins from 10 matches. All three of Antwerp’s defeats this term have come in the last five matches, while Standard claimed just one win in the previous five games – and are level on points with Antwerp in 12th. So the importance of this match cannot be understated and at the end of a tense, nervy affair in Liege, we think the hosts will be the ones celebrating three precious points. Oh and lest we forget, Antwerp’s struggles are further highlighted by the failure to score a single goal in the last three away matches, losing two of them to Zulte Waregem and Westerlo. Over to you, Standard.
Club Brugge to beat Leuven @ 1.51
After a 1-0 win over USG last time out, Club Brugge’s confidence levels should be higher than ever. And in Leuven, Nicky Hayen could not have asked for a better opponent following an international break. Leuven are 15th in the table with three defeats in the last five, scoring only eight goals all season and conceding 19. Club Brugge should stroll to victory here, especially if Romeo Vermant and Christos Tzolis hit their stride early in the contest.
Union Saint-Gilloise to score over 2.5 goals vs Charleroi @ 2.62
Matchday 11 is all about a response for USG, now managed by David Hubert after Sebastien Pocognoli’s move to AS Monaco. The defeat to Club Brugge will have hurt a lot, even more than the 4-0 home loss to Newcastle in the Champions League. But still USG have the quality in the ranks to deliver an emphatic performance this weekend, especially against a Charleroi side on a run of three consecutive Pro League defeats. USG have scored 12 goals in four home matches this season, an average of three per game. And with attacking options such as Kevin Rodriguez, Raul Florucz and Promise Akinpelu (all on four goals in the Pro League this season), we are backing USG to maintain their goal-scoring average in another win on home soil.
Anderlecht to beat STVV @ 2.27
A battle between two members of the Top 5 in the Pro League, with Anderlecht in 3rd since putting together a five-match unbeaten run. After a very good start to the season, STVV tailed off with three consecutive defeats, but did bounce back to some degree on Matchday 10 with a 3-1 win at Mechelen. However, consecutive home losses to Westerlo (0-2) and Genk (1-2) will still be of some concern behind-the-scenes, and are also a key reason why we are siding with Anderlecht here.
