Europa Conference League Qualifiers 2025/26: AEK Athens vs Anderlecht Preview

AEK Athens and Anderlecht, two of the most famous sides in Europe, are battling for a spot in the League Phase of this season’s Europa Conference League.

After a 1-1 draw in Brussels last week, there is everything to play for tomorrow evening in the Greek capital.

Read on as we preview the big match between AEK Athens and Anderlecht, providing you with bet tips for your midweek football bets.

AEK Athens vs Anderlecht Preview

Last week’s first leg was hugely entertaining, though Anderlecht will be kicking themselves about not achieving a crucial victory.

The Jupiler Pro League side had 20 shots on goal in total, with 10 of them hitting the target, but only mustered one goal – scored by talisman Kasper Dolberg in the 21st minute.

AEK weathered the storm in Brussels and conjured up a crucial response in the second half, Niclas Eliasson netting what could turn out to be a vital equaliser in the 74th minute.

However, the Greek Super League outfit ended the game on a negative note, as substitute Petros Mantalos was shown a red card deep into stoppage time after collecting two yellows.

Given he is suspended for tomorrow’s match, Manolas played on the weekend and the central midfielder scored in a 2-0 home win for AEK over Panserraikos, representing the perfect start to the new Super League campaign.

In domestic terms, Anderlecht’s latest scheduled fixture was called off to give the team more time to prepare for this European clash, which could prove crucial if the tie goes to extra-time.

Prior to that, Anderlecht won three of four Pro League matches, scoring 11 goals and conceding only five.

With Thorgan Hazard in magnificent form, the Belgian side may fancy their chances of silencing what should be a raucous crowd in Athens.

AEK Athens vs Anderlecht Betting Tips

Kasper Dolberg to score anytime @ 3.20

Dolberg scored in the first leg and he has been in fine form this season, netting five goals in seven matches across all competitions. Anderlecht need their main man to deliver in Athens – and it is rare that he lets the team down!

Amborisini Zini to score anytime @ 3.10

Angolan centre forward Zini is yet to score in AEK’s Europa Conference League Qualifying campaign, but he did strike in the team’s aforementioned Matchday 1 victory in the Super League. Can he make it two goals in as many appearances? We are backing him to do so!

AEK Athens to win and both teams to score @ 4.70

We expect a close contest between these two sides, with both on the scoresheet but little to separate them. However, home advantage in the second leg is massive in any European competition, particularly for a club like AEK, so they get our nod of approval in the BTTS and result market.
