Coppa Italia Final: AC Milan vs Bologna Preview

Jupiler Pro League: Championship Play-off Preview

While the Serie A title race is getting better with each passing week, the top flight takes a backseat on Wednesday evening in favour of the Coppa Italia final.

AC Milan are looking to win the prestigious trophy for the sixth time, while Bologna are seeking to claim a first triumph since 1974.

It is all set to be a cracking fixture at the iconic Stadio Olimpico and below is a full sports betting preview, complete with up-to-date football odds.

AC Milan vs Bologna Preview

These two sides actually met in Serie A on the weekend and it was Milan who came from a goal down to claim a 3-1 victory at San Siro.

Riccardo Orsolini put the visitors 1-0 ahead, only for super-sub Santiago Gimenez to turn the match on its head late on.

The Mexican striker scored a brace off the bench to help his side claim a fourth consecutive win across all competitions – and he has now surely secured a spot in the starting XI on Wednesday.

Milan are now just two points behind Bologna in the table, although that means little ahead of a cup final.

But the Rossoneri’s last match in this competition was arguably their finest performance of the season as they thrashed rivals Inter 3-0 to secure a 4-1 aggregate victory.

Bologna beat Empoli 5-1 across two legs after defeating Atalanta in the quarter-finals, which was a huge result following a tough Champions League campaign.

And lifting silverware would be a seismic achievement after losing manager Thiago Motta last summer, as well as key players in Riccardo Calafiori and Joshua Zirkzee.

AC Milan vs Bologna Betting Tips

Santiago Gimenez to score anytime @ 2.91

Gimenez’s brace last weekend could be a game-changing moment for him in a Milan shirt following his January move from Feyenoord. The Mexican striker has not found game time easy to come by, but surely has to start the final ahead of Luka Jovic and Tammy Abraham. With Christian Pulisic and Joao Felix feeding him, we are backing Gimenez to add another goal to his Milan tally.

Riccardo Orsolini to score anytime @ 3.26

Orsolini is undoubtedly Bologna’s biggest goal threat, with the winger’s strike at San Siro taking him to 15 across all competitions for the season. Orsolini also scored in the 3-0 semi-final first-leg victory over Empoli and although Milan have kept three clean sheets in the last six matches, Bologna’s main man has the tools to put the ball past Mike Maignan once again.

First half result – Draw @ 2.05

Cup finals are tense, nervy affairs, particularly in the first half. The score was level at 0-0 when the two sides met in the league and we would not be shocked to see that repeated in Rome.
